I wasn't a huge fan of the signing. I've been willing to give Francis the benefit of the doubt, but I find that I'm not liking his moves more and more. Seattle could use a change of direction and it's time that he was replaced.

Goalies are awesome.
This guy had a 30-9-1 record in his ufa year with a 1.98 GAA and .922 save%
That was his 6th year if being a very good NHL starter.
Completely shat the bed since signing as a UFA in Seattle.

I doubt they would do that, I was being facetious. Vladar has pretty much no value at this point. Now if it was Cooley that might interest them but I still think the pot would have to be sweetened a lot to send a guy of Wright's pedigree to a division rival. Does Cooley, and a 2nd for Grubby and Wright get it done? I still think like they would want a bit more.

I just don't think he gives us a future piece like Wright. No way.

OK, how about Grubauer and a 1st for Vladar? Who knows, maybe a change of scenery does them both some good.

Grubauer clears and has been assigned to Coachella Valley. 28-year-old Ales Stezka and his 0 games of NHL experience promoted to the bigs.

On a good team. Most goalies are capable with a Cup contender - just ask the Blackhawks.

Would you do Gru and Wright for Vladar and Anderson?

Then it's pointless to spend money on them. Use the money to assemble a Cup contender and, as you say, most will be capable.

I wouldn’t trade Anderson straight across for Wright.

I would do that easily. The Flames will need to take some chances on centers to get a possible #1. The Flames probably won't get bad enough to draft one.

This simply isn't true. And re the Blackhawks, I assume you are referring to Osgood? Seriously under-rated.

First, this is the wrong conclusion. And second, most will not be capable.
Yes, it is difficult to know, from year to year, which goalies will perform the best. But that doesn't change the fact that having a great goalie is the single greatest contributor to winning. And while goalie performance does vary from season to season, the best goalies are the most consistent. So the correct conclusion, with respect to maximizing your chances of winning, is to secure a great, and consistent, goalie.
Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of them. But here's hoping we've found ours!
