Corporate folk are just saying they're going to take longer to build it... but I am unsure. I know that the product is mostly intended for Asian markets.

I've thought this too for the longest time; however, there are many passionate grassroots supporters and volunteers of the ANDP. Changing the name could alienate them and Nenshi would risk losing their support.

The BC Liberals changed their name to BC United, and now that party has zero seats in the Legislature (and has further fractured with the launch of the Centre BC Party). I don't think Nenshi wants to take that risk.

Nenshi's plan appears to be to disassociate from the federal NDP by referring to his Party as the Alberta New Democrats (a bit easier now with the federal NDP on the verge of losing party status) and then proceed to wipe the floor with Danielle Smith in the campaign and in debates (assuming she makes it to the next Provincial Election).

I don't know if that will be enough to win in Alberta, but that might be the only viable path.

Yeah, they need to do something more. Even last night from one of his interviews he was asked his opinion about the demise of the federal NDP and how it will might affect the Alberta NDP. If you are getting that question from a election political panel, then it isn't a giant leap to think the average Albertan will have the same connection. Change the name or spend a lot of energy and time trying to keep explaining to people why this orange NDP party is different from that orange NDP party.

Notley was an idiot and deserved to lose. All that anti-oil messaging from the federal NDP killed any chance of her winning again.
