Nurse on IR and "Old man" Smith now on LTIR. Now that thin defense will really be exposed.

Hey we have to be nice to the Oilers, or I have to tonight, I have them on a two game parlay with the Flames and my 10 bucks could return 26.

Only temporarily. The extra red light therapy in their end will be good for Keith’s stamina and soon he’ll be the one playing 40 minutes a night.

"It's the Oilers. Perfect for getting our 5th stringer some practice."

I choose to believe that even if their ridiculous campaign works, it will weaken their playoff efforts. Will make them used to soft penalties and more easily swept.

Let’s see how they do when they’ve played some real teams, on a real road trip, against starting goalies.

They’ve played 17 games. 6 against 2021 playoff teams. 11 against draft lottery teams.

They had one soft 5 game trip that started 4 days after the previous home game. They went 2-3.

They’ve faced 6 backups in 17 games.

Clicked on sportsnet- order of priority for stories: leafs, then oilers, then flames . Sounds about right for them. Surprised the grease weren’t first actually.

Oilers given the Flames scheduling facing starters would not be looking so swell right now methinks.

They certainly wouldn't be 8-2-2 away.

Flames have stayed right with them despite facing a greater challenge. Not even close in terms of difficulty.

We'll see how they fare when it comes back the other way.

Oilers have went 5-1 vs the playoff teams.

Flames have faced 7 playoff teams from 2021, one of them being the Oilers. Another being the Canadiens....

3-4 record.

Two of the playoff teams they beat were missing everyone to injury (Penguins) and Covid (Islanders).

I wouldn't say that the Flames have run the gauntlet in terms of schedule so far either.

You can't be serious.

Come on man, you're better than that. The schedules aren't even remotely comparable and you know it.

The Flames have played 12 games in eastern barns already, Oilers 4.

The Flames have played 12 road games, Oilers 8

There are 7 teams with records under .500. The Flames have played 4 games against them (all on the road), and the Oilers have played 6 (3 at home)

Combined record of Flames' opponents: 150-114-42 (.559)

Combined record of Oilers' opponents: 128-126-39 (.503)

League average is currently .558

Oilers are 3-0 beyond regulation, Flames are 1-5 (that's the difference in their records). In regulation time, the Oilers are 10-4 and the Flames are 9-3

But the Oilers will lobby the league to make things fair for their superstars and play 3 on 3 overtime in the playoffs.
After all, people are paying to see superstars do superstar things, not get bodychecked.

We can't have a repeat of last year, when the league suddenly and unexpectedly changes the overtime rules for playoff games unfairly to Edmonton.

^ after almost 20 games, most teams' opponent-records will have mean-reverted towards the .558. For the Oilers to still be sitting at .503 is butter soft.

And amazingly, their schedule will actually get even easier over the next 5 games, with DAL, ARI, VGS, PIT and SEA (combined .424)

Will their schedule ever get difficult? Asking for 31 other teams.

I don’t get the soft schedule take. All teams play the same schedule. I also don’t put stock into being in first at the first quarter mark of the season. Oiler fans might because last 15 years they usually are out of the race, but teams that know this is a marathon should relax.

Oilers likely will make the playoffs and a high seed too. They have the PP locked down and opportunity is plenty on different team each night schedule.

Yet they will crash and burn yet again in the first round when teams can hone a plan to their one trick game.

Honestly if your a fan of a team with the record of the Oilers, especially being embarrassed in playoffs when you actually make it, and trash talk…you should expect nothing but laughter
