To me that seems like the best game the Flames have played this year. Despite the result.

As a Flames and Titans fan today has been super fun. At least the Flames put up more points than the Titans today...

Team is missing a second line that strikes fear into opponents.

Outside of Tkachuk against the Kings, other teams can key on our first line and dare the other 8 or 9 forwards to beat them.

Flames spend too much energy to get puck after dumping to o zone. Especially the team not big team. Last year they were good to carry puck to offence. And put Czar in pp2 instead Bennett. At least Czar more creative and can shoot.

Maybe Thomas Vanek if we can create a time machine to when he was a 40-goal scorer 10 years ago

This is the sort of game that I think can be helpful. I thought they worked hard. The talent is there, but the team has been lazy too much to start the year.

It’s probably better for them to work hard and lose a frustrating game than to pull it out. I thought it was better in many respects than most previous outings, but their execution is way off right now.

Is Ryan evening playing? Guy has been invisible. Team is missing hathways speed and checking. Too many floaters.

The negativity around the team is pretty over the top. This game wasn't great but I thought Calgary was the better team overall. The execution is off right now and against some of the better teams in the league on the road, that won't cut it.

That being said, the team still looks talented and once they get on a heater they will start piling up some points.

Backlund is looking better, Hanifin still flying out there. Top line underwhelmed, no magic from Johnny tonight.

I'm excited for some home games and confident they will look better.

6 games and we have a grand total of 0 goals from forwards outside of our top 4 guys. Pretty tough to win games that way.

Can everyone send me tapes of Alexis Lafreniere?

Just kidding.

Honestly, we could have won the game had Marleau decided to delay his San Jose return. Them Sharks wanted a W for Mr. Sharks' first home game back and they got their wish. Good on them. Wish it wasn't against the Flames.

Backlund creates chances, draws penalties and finishes nothing. Early season game.

Talbot was just fine. I liked his game. Stopped everything he should be expected to

Well, I dare say Justin Williams would be a step forward.

How about trading Bennett, Jankowski, Frolik and Flames first for Malkin, and then trade Brodie to Winnipeg to recoup the first?

Sure the Flames would have to wait three months to get Malkin back from injury, but I dare say that a Tkachuk-Malkin-Williams second line would get the attention of opposing teams.

Anyone game?

I think the top line through all these games is fine. Defense, fine. Goaltending, Fine.

Bottom 8 forwards plus Tkachuk most of the time, a shambles. No consistency, look nervous, look like doing the bare minimum to not get scored against. Not driving the play. Not playing as a unit, pick your poision.
Aided also by defense not jumping up as much as the Flames aren’t causing the turnovers they did last year at their own line and going back with speed the other way.

But mainly, it’s not having anyone that looks remotely able to score goals, or create consistent chances, outside of the top line and Tkachuk in the LAK game.

The Flames need to put this one behind them and never look back. Like a shark. Sharks don’t look back. Because they have no necks.

Random thoughts:

- Talbot looked like a backup goalie, which is about what we can expect
- I think Hamonic is the defenceman we should dangle, not Brodie.
- Brodie and Hanifin were our two best defenders
- first line was hot garbage
- Backlund and Frolik would be perfect 3rd line players on a Stanley Cup quality team
- Bennett should be a centre, and is significantly better at it than Jankowski
- Derek Ryan looked a bit better tonight, hopefully he starts coming
- I don’t like Mangiapane on the boards. Can’t do it. I love his shot and puck skills though.
- Kylington and Andersson should stay together.
