This guy is stud and only getting better. I want Peters to play him more, especially on the PP. He's got a bullet of a shot and needs to be utilized more.

Would love Tre to lock this guy up long term, similar to a Roman Josi style contract (7 years, 4M AAV)

He only gets put on a PK on an extreme emergency basis. A work in process.

His wife's a nutritionist. I think you mean "a work in produce".

Have to trust the brain thrust on the issue.

Huge Rasmus fan, love his instincts and overall game. I do think his skating is on the weaker side but his instincts and positioning more than make up for it. I think he has top pairing potential and the only thing that may hold him back is Hanifin and Valimaki. I said at the start of last season that by year 3 Hanifin and Valimaki would be our top pairing. Unfortunately injuries will delay Valimaki but as good as Rasmus is Valimaki is better. Flames are in excellent shape moving forward on the blueline with excellent young D man with top pairing potential.

Andersson is a fantastic young player with huge upside. I'm very impressed with his confident approach. He's assertive and believes in his abilities. Very confident but not cocky, yet I love that he chirps and is competitive.

Just not afraid out there, not afraid to mix it up, not afraid to make mistakes. Plays with poise and wants to make things happen. In big moments he rises to overcome the challenge.

I think it’s more accurate to say long periods of brilliance and moments of dumb mistakes. How could he possibly be awful? He was part of the best pairing in the NHL, Gio plays far better with him and he had one of the highest +/- in the league and +40 pts last season... not to mention his break outs are elite. I’d love to have some more awful dmen on this team. Such irrational hatred for Brodie by some members of this forum, it’s a form of insanity.

Ranking Brodie 5th among Flames' defensemen is ridiculous, IMO. I think, at this moment, it is:

Giordano
Brodie
Hanifn
Andersson
Hamonic
Kylington

where Valimaki slots in, upon his return, is anyone's guess.

Yeah, I think as fans we underrate our d corps, which may be the best in the league. With Valimaki healthy, there really isn’t a weak link. Even with Kylington/stone as our worst D man, that is some insane depth.

Two month bump to say how impressive Andersson has been lately. Regardless of what happens with Hamonic, Rasmus-Hanifin should be the second pairing in the not so distant future. Tough hard nosed player while also possessing a high hockey IQ.

This was one of my takeaways last night against the Coyotes. He's so responsible back there and the game seems to move slowly for him. Doesn't panic, great closing speed when chasing down the puck.

The only concern I have with this bunch is that they are all going to be as good as I think. Andersson/Valimaki/Kylington/Hanifin are all still so young; they all will be worthy of good $ as they get older, and that makes the cap harder to manage. But it's a concern I'm fine having.

Andersson was really good last night.

And Hanifin-Andersson must become a thing. Immediately.

Andersson is a really complete defenseman. He's solid defensively, can make nice offensive plays, he stands up for teammates and he's an A+ chirper. Only thing that's missing is production really.

I honestly don't see Kylington being on this team by end of the season, or at training camp next season.

The fact that Andersson, and Kyllington have stepped up so well gives the Flames a lot of flexiblity in regards to Hamonic and Brodie.

Four points in his last eight games, hoping he can continue to get consistent PP time

One of Hanifin, Kylington or Valimaki need to get comfortable playing RD

Brodie being able to play 1st pairing RD or 2nd/3rd LD is a big positive for this team

Maybe Kylington would be the best fit? He has the wheels to cover up his mistakes. 2nd pairing RD or LD for any pairing

I wonder how the Brodie and Hamonic situations will work out for next season?

Gio-Andersson
Hanifin
Valimaki
Kylington

Looking at that makes me think Stone will be back on another 1 year deal.
