Going back to my motorbike tire on my cargo bike. The tire I bought I just found out isn’t going to fit. Boo-urns.

That said I’ve locate another one but it’s rated as tubeless. Can I put a tube in a tubeless tire? I’m obviously a novice here

Saw this cool video where he looked at sandblasting media on mohr's hardness scale to determine what will not remove carbon.

He landed on cherry pits and this looked really well done.

Any idea where a sandblasting shop in Calgary would be that might be able to do this kind of work?

This is after I saw both GCN and Fracis cade have horrible experiences with sanding by hand:

It's going to be 28 degrees tomorrow. Maybe cycling will never end?

my gravel bike is in the shop until at least october 5. yesterday i spent some time moving the seat height on my wife's pathway bike as i am going to commander it for my ride in tomorrow.

i will feel like a bit of a unit riding a liv bike, so if you see a big boned fella on a liv bike that is too small for him, don't mock me or take a picture of me

You're lucky your wife's bike doesn't look like the typical one with step through frame, basket, and pastel colors. That would be a fun commute.

I just did a phenomenal ride down in Waterton to the US border (closed since COVID):

https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/5235229288

3 big climbs and 3 big descents (hardly any flats/rolling sections), but the scenery was remarkable. Pavement is in perfect condition. I encountered 12 cars the whole time and just one other group of 4 cyclists on e-bikes.

My big mistakes were:
1. starting too close to the first climb so I didn't get any warmup (I did it the day I drove down and was antsy to get riding) - it would be perfect to start from the townsite as drawn on the link (there is a .
2. eating one last cookie before starting, which really multiplied the effect of #1

Even if that border crossing opens up again I think it could be an enjoyable ride outside of peak times (speed limit is 60kph for most of it). Could even be a nice 125km loop if you do both border crossings and go through Cardston...would be the same amount of climbing as doing the short out and back!

Could you unlock that route? I'd love to check it out. Waterton to the border is a ride I want to do next year.

Funny enough, I planned this route in 2019 to do in 2020 but the pandemic had other plans.

so yesterday i rode the wife bike to/from the office. on her bike i rode about 14 minutes or so slower than i normally ride this route.

this was due in part to a slightly underflated rear tire in the morning, the fact the seat was a little low for me, and i babied the bike a bit as i wanted to make sure i did not break it.

killed me to have to ride so conrolled ont he way home as there was little to no wind which is rare for the afternoon, and i felt i could have really dropped the hammer.

They had my gravel bike scheduled to work on on october 5 - but the hubs had to come from the US. So i am hoping the job is wrapped up by next friday

i have never replaced rims on a bike, so i am pretty excited to see how different the old bike feels and rolls

Found a gigantic and amazing bike path on the east side of 37th between Westbrook Mall and Glamorgan Bakery today. It doesn't even show up on Google maps as a path but you can see some of it under construction in the satellite imagery.

They took back about 4+ feet of everyone's property, redid their paving stones up to their front door, and used the extra space to widen the sidewalk and turn it into an 8+ foot wide bike path.

Those new curbs with the sharp corners and ramps are also part of this. This is great and what should be done with all neighborhoods!

Are these things anywhere else in the city? Like I mentioned, it doesn't even show up as a cycling path on Google Maps right now.

You can submit changes to Google Maps (edit the map-->add or fix a road).
