I'll probably take the second bet. He made it to 10, but nothing this year can be treated with normalcy. The best players are not playing in a lot of tournaments so there are points to be had if you're willing to play. When I talked about a top 10, top 5 player, I'm talking consistency - Thiem, Tsitsipas, Zverev, Medvedev, those guys are consistently going to be in the top 10, generally comfortably. Shapo seems like the type of player who will have the occasional good tournament where everything clicks and surge from top 20 into the top 10, and everyone will start asking "is this Shapo's time?" ... then have a couple of mediocre showings and fall out again.
If one of those good showings is at a major, he could very well make a cameo in the top 5 at some point, but he's probably not going to have the type of career where he's making frequent appearances in the semis at majors, it seems to me, and that's what a top 5 guy is.

I would bet against as well. I don't think Shapovalov ever makes the top 5. His game isn't consistent enough, decision making isn't good enough, and his temperament still needs to improve. Right now, he's basically Gasquet.
Felix is a different story. He needs to work out a few things but he'll be top 5 for sure.

Zverev easily taking out Cecchinato is a surprise from me. I think hes finding his form and could be a scary opponent for Rafa in the 1/4s.

No chance NF, Zverev will crumble like a cookie, hell he had Thiem on the ropes at the US Open and couldn't seal the deal.

I should say if Rafa gets through Korda. Korda was saying how much he idolizes Rafa and he named his cat after him and everything Nadal does is perfect lol. You know you've played a long time when....

Yes very true ,however, he had more pressure that match, it was a final and he wasn't playing Nadal/Djoker/Federer. I think the fact it's a quarter and he won't be favored to win he can play loose.

The only reason Zverev is still in this tourney is that PHH folded worse than Zverev did in the 5th set. Put it this way, the only way Rafa doesn't win this match (provided he gets past Korda which he should) is if he tests positive for COVID-19.

I would still take Rafa.

I should add NF that Zverev is not guaranteed to get by Jannik Sinner by any stretch, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if the betting line is essentially a pick'em for this match (I haven't checked).

Geez, two retirements on the men's side today - Bedene retired against Greek Yogurt and RCB retired against Dimitrov.

Leylah up a break in the opening set as Kvitova is serving at 1-4. Kvitova looking uncomfortable out there thus far, Leylah is playing great and dictating the majority of the points.

Well, it was 5-1 and now we're back on serve with Petra serving at 4-5. Kvitova has really raised her level of play and cut down on the unforced errors.

Yikes, a double fault by Leylah results in a break and Kvitova will be serving for the first set at 6-5

Kvitova takes the opening set 7-5. That's a gut punch for Leylah as she did have a set point, but she's still playing very well, it's just that Petra is playing just a little better.
