So when I am re-signing my AHL guys right now, will their full cap hits count against my cap? I want to know if I have enough space to sign certain UFAs.

The rule above relates to UFAs that you sign, not your own RFAs. As you sign your RFAs they will simply remain in the league they are in now (NHL or AHL). Just remember you need to call anyone up that is 23 years or younger and above the ratings threshold.
So your AHL guys will only count against your AHL salary until you call them up.
If you re-sign a UFA it is a 1 way deal an the player goes on your NHL club.
if you sign a net new UFA that player will start in the NHL club and then can be sent down, going through waivers if they are 24 years or older.
Make sense?
