Default How can I get rid of Magpies?

There are Magpies nesting in a tree at my Mom's house. I thought I knocked out the nest with a long pole, but I was wrong the nest seems to be huge. I tried again but now the bird knows what I am doing and is very aggressive. Whenever I show up it circles over my head and watches me. I went to get the mail the other day and the bird followed me, it landed on ever fence as I walked to the box. It is very creepy and weird. I think they might have babies.

Does anyone know how to deal with this? If they have babies I hope to do things in a humane way.

Magpies recognize human faces

It's too late for you, tell your mother to save herself.

Personally leave them alone, they'll be gone soon enough. I believe that the young leave by the end of July.

While Magpies can be aggressive (they're also one of the boldest and smartest birds out there), unless you really approach their nest and try to dislodge it, they'll basically just watch you and warn you off if you get to close. But if you attempt to dislodge the nest once the clutch has been placed they can get really aggressive.

I think at this point you let nature take its course. Dude its nature, enjoy it.

It could be worse. You could have a nest laid by a hyper aggressive species that's into dive bombing if you get within ten feet of the nest.

My dad built a trap for them at the ranch. It was a cage they could enter but not get out of.

That's the problem I already tried to dislodge it, twice. Now it's watching me.

That's incredible. I almost joined the group of researchers at SNU that figured this out at one point. Small world.

Magpies get rid of you, not the other way around.

Maybe try a fake beard/mustache and dark sunglasses.

Sorry for your luck but this is actually quite funny to read.

They don't really do much if any damage. Just let them be and everything will be fine. Otherwise, prepare for the dive bombs.

And that was the biggest mistake, if you'd left the nest alone, the Magpies probably would have let you live.

Now they're using their super smart bird brains to watch you, figure out you're patterns, wait for you to make a mistake, and then murder you.

The Magpie's are going to be weary of you for the next couple of months, because you threatened their nest. But if you behave appropriately and give them space they'll probably go back to ignoring you.

But if I was you, I'd do one of two things. I'd make sure that all of my doors and windows are locked at night, and if you hear your name being called from outside at night don't go out on your own to investigate. I'd also tell my loved ones that I love them and update your will.

Or you could throw your meager belongings in your car and run, and hope that you can outrun the coming storm.

The Magppie waits.

Airsoft will only piss them off. They will get their friends and take you out.

Carry around a tennis racket when you dislodge the nest. Then you can just swat them away. Magpies are not tough, Don't be scared.

Introduce an evasive species such as the Chinese needle snakes to get rid of them...

Also, who knocks out a bird's nest that's in a tree? That's where they live. You messed with their babies, now they are gonna #### you up bro.

The solution is clearly Bolivian Tree Lizards.

Then of course ready the needle-snakes to eat the lizards, and then the snake-eating gorillas. Don't worry about the gorillas, when winter comes along they will just freeze to death.
