Bob Costas won't be the main host for NBC's Olympic coverage for the first time in ages in February (I think he started with 1988 in Seoul).

Yamamoto is beating out Poolparty for an Oilers opening night roster spot.
Well, here’s something else that isn’t supposed to happen: Kailer Yamamoto, the first-rounder from 2017, isn’t supposed to be more NHL-ready than Jesse Puljujarvi, the first-rounder from 2016. Especially when Yamamoto stands five-foot-eight while Puljujarvi is six-foot-four, with a pro season in North America behind him.
But isn’t that why they play the games? So long shots like Yamamoto can show all us experts that we may be wrong — again.

I wish that idiot would stop scoring so many goals and make it an easier decision to send him back to juniors.

It would be a lot easier if Puljajarvi actually looked like a NHL player.

Also, I think it's very premature to say this kid is ready. If they wanna see if he's ready they should give him 9 games when opposing teams are icing their best rosters

So Oilerish to say.
The list of kids that scored a bunch of goals in pre-season, but aren't yet ready for the NHL is very, very long. However, the Oilers' history of gifting positions to kids is even longer.

Don’t worry, I’m sure he’ll go on to do just as good this regular season as last years rookie preseason scoring leader Phil Varone (5GP / 0 points). The preseason means almost nothing. And yes that includes the largely veteran-laden team that got handily beaten by Carolina last night. Great teams do terrible and terrible teams do great every preseason.

I don't necessarily think Yamamoto is ready for the bigs just yet, but watching him play-he's going to be another guy we will hate for many years....
