Default Important note: RFA grids and next steps

Hey folks
Here is an update on our next key off-season activity: RFA Re-signing

We have released a new version of the ratings that now includes contract grid amounts for RFAs and UFAs.
You can find them here: http://cphl.calgarypuck.com/pages/si...ers_Grids.xlsx

Some notes

- The ratings have not changed. Rather for each player you can now see their UFA re-signing amount and RFA amounts for 1, 2 and 3 year deals.
- If a player is signed for this upcoming season - you don't need to worry about it. If a player is a free agent and 29 or over - use the UFA grids. 28 and under - the RFA grids.
- If a player does not have a gird amount you can sign them for the minimum (the amounts at the bottom of the list)
- Overall these grids are not too different from what we used last year.
- As always, if you re-sign UFAs they are 1 way deals. RFAs are 2 way deals
- You MUST have enough cap space to re-sign your UFAs, but you don't need cap space to re-sign your RFAs
- That's just all information to think about your decision. You should NOT send in your UFAs right now

You'll also see where the re-call waiver cut off point is for forward, D and G. As a reminder this means that all players need to be in the CPHL are 23 years or younger AND have a rating above the threshold, otherwise they will be subject to re-call waivers. These players will need to be recalled by the RFA re-signing deadline (below). The rating thresholds are 67 and above (Forwards), 68 and above (D) and 78 and above (goalies)

NEXT STEPS:
- Submit the RFAs you wish to re-sign by Sunday July 8th 11:59 PM Calgary time. This is also the deadline for recalling any players 24 years or younger above the rating threshold
- This should be done by emailing cphltrade the following (send it all in one email, not an email for each player)
- The name of the player be signed, OVR, number of years you are signing them to, and the corresponding grid amount.
- A list of players you are NOT re-signing
- Please include any ECHLers that have 0 years remaining. You can also sign other ECHlers with term remaining but there is no deadline for this yet. ECHL contracts are based on where they were drafted in the NHL:
1st Round = Picks 1-10: $1.35 million, Picks 11-20: $1.15 million, Picks 21+: $1 million*
2nd Round = $0.75 million*
3rd Round and beyond = $0.5 million*

After RFA re-signing we will have UFA re-signing and then UFA bidding.

There is a lot in this post, so please read carefully and ask questions. No question is dumb. If you are confused, chances are someone else is.

just to clarify: if I have players older than 24 in the AHL who are above the threshold, I can recall them later without any problems?

Yup. They would be subject to waivers if you sent them back down though. And sorry it is 23 years of age or younger. Will correct in the original post

Do we have to do this for ECHLers we are not currently signing to a contract too?

And can anyone confirm next year's salary cap? is it $70 MM?

At this stage you only have to sign ECHLer at 0 years remaining and you wish to move to the AHL. If you don't want to sign them, just release them.
Salary cap is $75M

Are the RFA contract amounts for players without ratings that aren't ECHLers 0.75/1.25/1.75?

Yes, that's the lowest you can resign a player for.

The other option is to cut him and then try to be the winning bid in the final FA round, where you can offer 3 years at 0.55 or whatever... but you risk another out bidding you

Probably not the best place to ask, but where can I find information on how much cap I will save by waiving a player?

Also, for the RFAs I re-sign that are currently in the AHL, do I need to waive them after they are signed, or do they remain on the AHL roster for cap purposes?

If you waive a player then they make their AHL % as their salary, unless they are on a 1 way deal. The AHL % is in brackets next to their salary.
I don't know that I understand your second question but you can keep guys in the AHL
- Unless they are on a 1 way deal
- Or if they are over the ratings cut over and under 24 years old. In which case they need to come back up.

But if you are re-signing AHL guys, you don't have to waive them agian.

And what if they are on a one way deal?

Thank you. And what is the process for buying out a player? Just announce in waiver thread?

There's a link on your GM page to buy him out. Under actions at the top.

Are we to include ECHLers in the email or use the link on the roster page for these guys?

And just to be clear, the Sunday deadline is only for RFAs? We will have another deadline to re-sign our UFAs before others can bid?
