Man, that is going to be a hard book to turn into a movie properly. As good as that looks, I'm not going to get my hopes up.
I'm really hoping that trailer isn't indicative of what the full movie will be like. The book is 90% Battle School and Ender growing as a strong character, 10% blowing stuff up in space. The trailer makes it look like that ratio is reversed
Can't imagine they'll even attempt any of the Ender sequels though, if the first book is hard to translate to film the other 3 are impossible

The trailer didn't do much for me, but really hoping this one is good. A talented team top to bottom (minus Diaz, she's horrible)/
^ Yah it doesn't look nearly as good as Captain Phillips or Wolf of Wall Street. But with that cast/crew you would think it would be almost impossible to screw up a movie.
On the other hand Ridley Scott hasn't directed a great movie in over 10 years now (Black Hawk Down). Since then he's done a bunch of movies ranging from bad (Robin Hood and A Good Year) to merely good (Prometheus and American Gangster), but nothing great. Here's hoping for more this time around.
Looks good, Diaz looks so haggard these days but I still find her hot.. in like a sluty cougar kind of way.
Can't stand her as an actress though.

Awesome, I hope this catapults Elba to one of the premier actors in Hollywood. One of the most underrated actors around right now, he was one of the lynchpins for one of the best TV series ever made
If you're so sick of superhero movies, why do you keep going to them?

I know some people are sick of those movies, but there are hundreds of movies released every year, usually 2-3 every week in theaters, so I am not sure why 4-5 superhero movies being released sends people up the wall. They make up what 1 maybe 2% of all major releases? If you're tired of them then go see something else.
There are more movies starring Channing Tatum released in the past few years than superhero movies. Go see those instead!

Although 5 superhero movies in a year (which is what 2011 had) would be more than 2% of major releases as you put it. There are not 250 major releases in a year. Not even close. If there are 100 it would be 5% percent. That's probably closer.
Although, I will say, the worst plague on theaters (and subscription services) right now is animated kids movies. Those definitely make up the largest genre.
Sorry, wasn't taking a crack at you, more of an observation that there aren't really that many superhero movies necessarily, considering Tatum makes more movies himself than all the superhero movies combined. Although to be fair to Tatum he has been in decent movies recently (Side Effects, This is the End, Magic Mike, 21 Jump Street).
I think Marvel does make too many movies, but DC doesn't make enough, so they sort of cancel out. I agree the Marvel universe is somewhat tiresome as they could be releasing 5-6 movies a year soon, meanwhile over at DC it's one every two years. I wish there was more of a balance, as then people might be more open to the different tones in each universe.
There hasn't been a really great movie this year yet (superhero or otherwise), and I hope that changes soon with movies like Prisoners, Captain Phillips, The Wolf of Wall Street, Gravity, and The Counselor are released.
Yeah, some of the 'oscar' type movies are starting to be advertised so maybe there'll be some gems. Plus there's usually one sleeper low budget or foreign film that ends up being really good.
