I’d have taken him back at $2.1M in a heartbeat.

Coleman-Backlund-Jarnkrok would have been an elite third line.
I loved Jarnkrok. It was clear he was struggling to suddenly play a position he hadn't played in years on a new team. Toronto is going to love him with that contract.

Yeah I said over and over that he wasn’t the answer at centre. People wanted him here as a centre even before Monahan was shelved. As his replacement.

Friedman and Marek speculated that Colorado, Edmonton, and Boston are teams that could bring in Jonathan Toews this year.

I didn’t mind jarnkok either. He was good defensively and a bit snake bitten offensively. At the time when he signed with Toronto I was in deferent to the situation . Now seeing Lewis as the winger on the Backlund line makes me wish we had re-signed him . Granted it’s also kinda falls on the prospects for Lewis being on third line. There was an open spot for the taking and not one prospect stepped up to snag it. Hell even ruzicka didn’t have a strong camp and is our 13th forward to start the season.

Nothing would make me happier than Edmonton spending futures on Toews.

Friedman also said that Edmonton is going to try to get Klingberg out of Anaheim. I don't know where Edmonton is going to find this miracle cap-space.

Maybe the league can find out from the oilers what players they want, then cancel those players contracts on some trumped up charges so they can sign with the oilers at a pro rated salary. Worked last year.

I like how the season hasn't even started yet but the Oilers have a long list of rentals they want to add at the deadline.

They better hope that Campbell is up to the task because if he isn't, the only thing they may be doing at the deadline is selling.

Better yet, they make desperate moves in attempts to make the playoffs.

Not looking good for Carey Price to return to the NHL. He's 35 years old and he is nowhere close to returning.

How would we feel about potentially grabbing Wahlstrom from the Isles?
Needs some time to develop yet, but has some NHL games in him, and Sutter could probably help him with the defensive side of his game.

I agree Jarnkrok was a much better fit as a winger. Even considering his lack of centre experience, though, he was still an upgrade on Monny at that point.

Like they can create 10M in cap space anyway

All the while accruing no cap space, so whoever they go looking for will need to be dollars in dollars out, or extra cost to try and get retention. Truly is magical how they've managed their cap up there.

Nope they figure close to the deadline the price will be much much lower and the amount of money to retain will be much less.
