my commute takes me thru inglewood and then down 8th - I really find that part of the commute a pain as tehre is some stops and starts and then dealing witht eh riverfront pathway and i am still learning which lane to be in to set myself up easily.

of course once i run off the path onto first street it becomes a real pain, but it has been a little easier since they finished the destruction by sun life plaza

Fantastic ride in today, with the mist there were Jesus rays aplenty through Confederation Park and the side streets. Also saw a coyote on the bluff, walked right in front of me. Coincidentally, I found a way to get people to put their dog on a leash....warn them of said coyote. Immediate success.

Not sure if anybody else saw/cares, but Strava has decided not to allow Relive to access their data. Here's Relive's take:
https://www.relive.cc/strava

I didn't use it all the time, but it was good for the odd time I wanted a video to show off.

So what's a good e-bike? Thinking of selling my car and just transiting/biking into work full time.

If I had the money, I'd go with an Xtracycle cargo bike with the eBike option.

Did it today, that was GD terrifying! Ugh. Gravel trucks on Symons Valley road with no shoulder. Twice I looked in my mirror as one was coming uo in me me and there was an oncoming car leaving no space, and I just hopped off what little shoulder there was, as I had no room. Big Hill Spring Road wasn't much better, and the gravel at the bottom of the hill made the shoulder a death trap, which was fun to discover approaching at 60km/h.. Climbing up, the shoulder turns into the east African rift zone making it also useless. Bearspaw road was the only safe section.

Will not do that loop again! I'm amazed my wife stuck it out, though there were no bail out options...She ended up falling into the guard rail in the rift zone when a camper went by.

This kid doesn't appear to have a death wish but is completely clueless. He might be special needs. I say that with sincerity. He doesn’t appear to think he’s doing anything wrong.

Hi all,

I know this is a cycling thread but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with a tight IT band on their hip as a result of cycling?

Ever since I started indoor cycling more and more a few years ago, I have developed hip pain. Several different Dr's including a sports medicine Dr and a hip surgeon say I have a torn labrum but my pain might be a result of a tight IT band and cycling might be the cause.

Anybody experience this? Anybody have any pointers on treatment or prevention?

Many thanks and sorry for the off topic post

I’ve dealt with that from running in the past and the treatment involved a foam roller and a lot of pain! I’m sure there are videos, but you basically roll along your hip and loosen it up. It’s painful, to say the least!

One of the enjoyable things about biking is that I find it’s much easier on the body in general. I haven’t run into the IT band issues, nor most of the issues I had from running because there’s no continual impact.

It happens to me. I have a really stiff foam roller that is painful to use, and I go for massages to someone strong enough to create a release.

Yep, I'll echo this.
A stiff foam roller, and get ready for the pain.

A few of us (me, worth and the_only_turek_fan) are doing a 75km ride on Saturday out of Turner Valley. Meeting at Fahr Brewery at 9ish. Wheels down at 9:30am. Should be back at Fahr for a couple beers around noonish. If anyone's interested in joining let me know. It's the unofficial/official CP ride for July.

It's a road ride. No drop. You should be able to do 25-26 km/h over the course of a 2-3 hours.

That would be an awesome thing to join; unfortunately the pace is too low for me to hit my training targets. Maybe next time.

Fair enough. If it's just the 3 of us the pace will likely be more in the 28-29 km/h range.

The beer is my training target.

Well that was....wet. Need to remember spare socks on days like these. Good thing I have an air vent to dry stuff out.
