Last thing we need is another 5-7 spot dman.

I think he has run his course with the Flames. We have other prospects that are going to be ready right away.

Especially one that could become unavailable at any time based on that past couple of years.

Does Yelle work in hockey today? Wonder what became of him?

I almost forgot about Wendel Clark and how he was drafted as a defenceman. The Leafs were very smart to convert him to forward. Crazy to take a player first overall and then try to change their position like that.

Minnesota kind of did the same thing with Brent Burns but in reverse. That also worked out (though Sharks did briefly try to convert him back).

Pass. He had a good year with Tanev, who makes everyone look good and besides that is barely an NHLer. This team doesn't need another D man like him right now.

Very true, wouldn't take him at league minimum. I like to think Craig would ignore him out of spite instead.

He's in my industry, runs a small boutique eComm company out of Vegas. Heard him on a podcast a while back talking about how playing hockey converted into managing brands.

Here's his linkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephane-yelle-11198b28/

I really hope he has a new agent. Either his agent gave him terrible advice, or didn't do a good enough job of convincing him to stay in Calgary. He has only seen 8 games with the Avs so far, so you have to wonder what his next deal will look like.

Had he stayed here, he might have played alongside Weegar all season and been looking great at it, setting himself for a longer term and payday. With his utilization in Colorado, I am not sure he gets more than a 1 year, near league minimum deal next year again. I do hope he gets the playing time in Colorado, and does well enough with it to get himself some security on his next deal though. It is hard to not cheer for him.

Hard not to cheer for him. At the same time kinda don't let the door hit you on the way out.

One of the most baffling decisions that clearly hasn't worked out thus far.

Man that Oilers playoff series wrecked us after Game 1. Remember him and Tkachuk laughing at Kane in the penalty box?

Seriously. Would've easily gotten top 4 minutes here, like you said probably with Weegar. Ignoring all the other stuff, where did he think he would ever get more potential minutes than Calgary? Just a horrible decision.

The rumour is that the the Washington Capitals tampered and got in his ear before free agency saying they would sign him to a multi-year deal. Then when they traded for Chychrun on July 1st, they decided they didn't need another defenseman. I don't know if that rumour is true, but that is what went around the internet.

If the Avs put him on waivers would you make a claim? I would. Let him take Beans spot on the 3rd pair
