Darn it, Leylah lost to Shnaider 6-4 6-2 in the Hong Kong semi-finals. Still, that's a good week for Leylah, something to build on for the BJK Cup later this month.

Holger, you had one job. Zverev is now ranked #2 in the world usurping Charlie.

It's not enough for me to root for Zverev on Sunday, but Humbert celebrating winning points late in set 3 when Khachanov was clearly injured was very poor form. Karen made sure to tell him at the net that he was behaving like a goof.

Bah, Zverev takes the Paris Masters. Perhaps the only other people pleased other than Zverev and his family is Karen Khachanov.

I was actually pleased. Wasn't a fan of how the fans and Humbert treated Khachanov. Regardless of me not caring for Zverev I hate to see bad behaviour rewarded at tournaments.

Yeah, the way Humbert acted in his match versus Khachanov was very immature and while maybe you could excuse it from a guy 17 or 18, Humbert is 26. At any rate, Zverev despite not winning any grand slams (and I hope he never wins one) has had a fine 2024 and deserved the win yesterday.

Shapo with a nice win just now over Marton Fucsovics 6-7 7-5 6-1 at the Serbia Open. That's his 3rd match win as he won two matches in qualies to make the main draw. Keep it going Denis!!
Edit: Up to #70 in the live rankings after this win.

Unless grand slams move to best of 3 i can't see him winning one.
1. 2 sets up against Thiem in his first final, so he's got PTSD
2. Plays tentative under pressure the longer the match goes (Medvedev calling him a pussycat)
3. Body breaks down, he is diabetic.

Novak qualifying for the ATP Finals despite not even playing even close to a full schedule and then deciding meh, I'll pass is quite the flex.

Denis into the quarter-finals in Belgrade following a 6-2 6-4 win over Nuno Borges. He's now up to #66 in the live rankings and will next face Chris O'Connell who is one spot higher at #65

If interested, Shapo did a recent interview with Brittany Maclean. It's just over 13 minutes, but Denis to me appears to be in a good frame of mind and I think it's translating to his positive play on court.

Shapo continues to roll in Belgrade defeating Chris O'Connell 6-2 6-2. Things ramp up tomorrow though as he takes on Jiri Lehecka.
