This is super interesting, never would have guessed that Bianca vs Serena Williams final would be the highest rated US Open final (men or women's) in the last 10 years .Bonkers that Raducanu vs Fernandez had more viewers than Djokovic vs Medvedev when Djokovic was going for the grand slam.
The women's final is on a Saturday and not competing with the NFL. I would say the fluctuation on the men's final viewership is heavily dependant on the intrigue of the NFL opening Sunday schedule. It's kind of a shame the men's final has to compete with the NFL as I feel viewership would be a lot better if it was held on a non-NFL weekend.
Wow, big upset in Guadalajara just now as Marina Stakusic knocks off top seed and #12 in the world Jelena Ostapenko 6-3 5-7 7-6. Marina won despite hitting 17 double faults lol.
Argentina just won the opening singles match vs. GBR in Davis Cup play this morning. Jack Draper will be taking on Frankie Cerundolo in the 2nd singles match.
Marina gets Magdalena Frech in a quarter-final match later today - Their lone previous meeting was at the BJK Cup in 2023 that Marina won in a three set battle.

Cerundolo play9ing Draper tough in Manchester, won the opening set in a tie-break and they're on serve late in set 2.
Edit: Frankie Cerundolo breaks Jack Draper late in set 2 to win the tie for Argentina in straight sets. It's looking better and better for Canada with this result.

I didn't know she trailed 4-0 in the third set. When a fabulous result/comeback!

Yeah, winning that type of match in the fashion she did just goes to her mentality that she brings to the court. If she can defeat Frech tonight, she will raise another 20 spots in the rankings to around #107 and is getting closer and close to automatically qualifying for WTA events and grand slam tournaments. Suffice it to say, it's a big match tonight.

GBR won the doubles against Argentina which means that Canada needs to win 1 match on Sunday versus the Brits to advance to the finals in Malaga in November.
Lots of unforced errors for Stakusic so far, as she is down a set and trailing 2-1 second set.
Marina's run ends tonight, but two nice wins in Mexico and a good bump to her WTA ranking. Hopefully, she'll be a mainstay at WTA events early in 2025.

Argentina sweeps Finland and have qualified for the finals in Malaga. Canada needs to win one rubber against GBR on Sunday to join Argentina from Group D.
First sign of nerves from Shapo missing a sitter at the net and a couple of break points, but he digs deep and does hold serve. Evans serving to keep GBR in the Davis Cup at 4-5 in set 2.
