That is the type of player I would easily part with the NJ or LV 1st to acquire in addition to other picks or prospects.
Coronato for Wright straight up?

I do know that the Flames did inquire on him back in the summer, price was still astronomical for the former 1st rounder. They'd want something like Andersson and a 1st to start, and I don't think that's changed much.

Given that Wright is a C, and still has big upside, I would do this deal (and I would probably add). I really have to wonder about Wright's attitude, though...

Why didn't any of his teammates go to his birthday party?

Because he went to the McDonald with a ball pit instead of Chucky Cheese.

agreed. Which is why idk if I’d be that excited to go for him. If he fell down to the Bennett trade comp (second and a b prospect) then I’d be interested

I doubt that the Flames would trade him, absent a huge overpay.
But it depends on the Flames view on Cooley and whether they want to be seen as throwing in the season.
Although I think they could easily spin that the return was too good to pass up on a UFA to be and they really like Cooley.
I would buy that story, as it may well be true.
But I doubt they want to run with a relatively untested duo of Wolf /Cooley at this stage in the season.

‘Huge overpay’, why?
I don’t understand why people speak in these extremes. If the Flames get a deal they like, they will probably take it and it probably doesn’t need to be a ‘huge overpay’.
Huge overpay and fired immediately are usually lead ins to over emotional bad takes.

By huge overpay I mean more than you might thing he's worth conventionally on the market.
The Flames have no reason to trade him this early in the season, in fact have reasons not to. So, even if offered fair market value, I doubt they pull the trigger.

I don't think any team is going to expect the Flames to give up their first in an Andersson deal. Unless you're offering an Eichel level player, that pretty much shuts down all negotiations.
With the way Andersson has been playing, I think many would be shocked at the level of forward prospect he could bring back. There's definitely precedent for a young #2/3 d-man bringing back a big fish.

Not crazy about Wright. Have seen him play several times now and he seems slow to improve. Had a big ego at the draft that he’s not backing up yet. Overhyped?

Shane Wright is not worth the risk.
Someone seen as a 1st overall pick dropping to 4th, unable to deliver so far. He has a lot of red flags.
I would do Klapka and a 3rd for Wright.

Was it Slafkovsky who was picked 1st instead? I can't remember, but what a good move by the Habs there if it was.

If I am Seattle, I don't give up on a high 1st round at the age of 20. It's too early to write him off as a bust. But if I am another team, there is no way I give up high 1st round draft pick value for a prospect lagging behind a little.

This sums it up best, imo. Which is why he'll stay there for at least another season and half.

The only variable there is that they have both Beniers and Stephenson locked up until 2027-28 at C. For a team in their position I can see them moving Wright to allocate depth/futures in another position.
Would I be in on Wright? That's a whole other discussion I've been debating with myself this season. Personally I think I would, I think for any rebuilding team you need to take a couple risks on under performing high-end prospects, especially centres. We're not gonna hit on every draft pick anyways.
