Default Anyone recommend a good RTS?

I feel my games library is lacking a good RTS these days and looking for some suggestions on a new one. Looking for something that can take a while to play, has a good sized tech tree and decent graphics.

In the past I have played and loved:

Company of Heroes
Moon Project <----personal favourite
Battle for Middle Eath
Home World: Cataclysm
Star Craft
War Craft

Never could really get into the Rome: Total Wars or such titles that take place in that era. Prefer the ones like Star Craft or Moon Project where different races are involved.

Anything new out there I should be taking a look at?

Supreme Commander, and Forged Alliance may be what you are looking for. If you liked Total Annihilation those 2 I would look for.

I can't remember, does Civ have a real-time mode or is it only turn-based?

Oh ya, forgot to mention that part. Not a big fan of the turn based games.

Yeah I don't really like turn-based ones either... but Civ 4 is an all-time great amongst all games, not just strategy games.

You might like it, you might not. Check it out if you want.

Have you tried any of the command and conquer red alert, or tiberium wars? All pretty good, and 3 came out pretty recently.

Seconded Supreme Commander, although in some ways it makes me want to just go back to playing TA. Definitely has its flaws. Starcraft 2 is on the horizon, and a new Red Alert (or is it out?)

World In Conflict. not your standard RTS as there's no base building or resource gathering, it focuses more on strategy and tactics. story is great, graphics are spectacular and the multiplayer is a blast. the first time you fire off a nuke is awe inspiring

I've heard good things about Command & Conquer 3. I've never been a big fan of the camera system in the recent C&C's as they feel too close to the battlefield to be overly useful, but then it was the same in Warcraft 3 and I still had fun with that one. C&C 3 returns to the live action cut scenes and seems to star most of the Battlestar Galactica cast, so that is cool. I'm thinking about picking it up, but between WoW and GTA4/Mario Cart, my game time is all booked up.

Supreme Commander is pretty cool. It's focus is more on strategic moves rather then tactical, so it can start to play at a bit of a glacial pace as you build up your army before the big push. Hit and run tactics didn't seem to work well in that game, but when you get a couple big units surrounded by tanks walking into a pitched battle.... sit back and enjoy the fireworks

Have you tried the Total War series? Rome: Total War is a few years old, but I liked it. It is kind of a mixed game - it is turned based until you get into combat, then it runs real time.
