Very complex deal.

Like it for the Sens if they are blowing it up. I didn’t like the trade that brought Brassard to Ottawa. Zibenijad and a 2nd.

Love it for the Pens as this gives them a solid 3rd line centre for this year and next.

Don’t really get it for Vegas. Is this a favor for getting Fleury+2nd in the expansion draft?

The Knights' farts have smelled like roses all season so I'm sure this will work out for them

Doesn't seem like Vegas gets much. Giving up Lindberg is nothing but Reaves is a borderline NHLer, isn't he? Maybe some depth for the playoffs.

Absorbing 40% for 2 years only gets you a 4th rounder?

Reaves can give you 4th line minutes especially if they get into a physical series. Makes them a little tougher to play against up front.

VGK getting Reaves specifically for LA/Anaheim by the looks of it to me.

i think reeves is one of the best 4th liners in the NHL.

or, at least, he was. That may not sound like much, but it is.

The wording makes it sound like this years Salary rather than both years. Not sure if that's right. But why do you make Pittsburgh stronger for a 4th round pick.

According to my calculations, Vegas will pay $1.6 million in cash (40% of what is still owed to Brassard this season plus 40% of 3.5 million for Brassard next season)

Only teams I can think of are San Jose and LA.

No way we were in on Brassard at least I hope we weren’t.

Its Derek Brassard. Are you really giving things up just to keep him out of your conference?

Come on John Shannon

He's on pace for 50 points this season. That's 2nd line center pace. A team like Sanjo could be a Brassard away from being the best team in the Pacific.

If "giving up things" is $1.6m in caphit and exchanging a prospect for a 4th just so your opponents don't add a 2nd line centre, I can't blame Vegas for doing it.

Plus I'm sure there's a bit of goodwill from Vegas towards Pittsburgh for Fleury.

Edit:

@JSportsnet: Am told that western team was Winnipeg https://t.co/RasFxxzDZJ

----------

Not sure what Winnipeg's lines usually are but having a Brassard centering Laine and Ehlers instead of a somebody named Andrew Copp from last game would've been big.

With Thornton I could see SJ as being interested in Brassard.
