I’ll say he’s a pretty good 5th round pick. 15 and 21 goals last 2 years.

The team invested a lot of resources into developing Michael Ferland, when they could've easily written him off. That speaks well of the organization. I have no doubt it was a tough decision to move him.

Ferland was equally gracious in his comments today as well.

Really enjoyed the development of Ferland, watching him play on the ice and the fierce compete he would bring.

I think he was a very hard working player and very dedicated. Wishing him all the best in his future.

Default Thank you and best wishes Micheal Ferland

I thought Michael Ferland was the number 1 reason we had the most enjoyable playoff series I can remember in recent years. He had the Canucks on the run every time his skate touched the ice. He was in their heads completely.

But who he is is a person and what he has overcome, more than anything else should define his character. Moreso than anything done on the ice, which is just a manifestation of it.

I hope he goes on to have continued success with Carolina and that when his career draws to a close, he is able to help others overcome the same demons he crushed.

Good luck Micheal, and thanks.

I haven’t read every post in this thread, but Ferland had a very unique skill set:
-dangerous perimeter shot, soft hands in close.
-injuring key opponents with LEGAL hard hits. NHL elite heaviness.
-swing for the fences approach in fights which is universally intimidating (and very rare modern NHL commodity)
-no signs of ego or entitlement.

I hope Ferland carves out a long journeyman career on his skill set, toughness, and maturity as an example for underprivileged kids seeking positive role models. I’ll continue to cheer for him.

So sad to see you go. You did awesome in Calgary and made the most of your opportunity. Best wishes to you and your family in Carolina. Take care of yourself.
