What do you mean re: Granlund?
I think he means that he'd come in for Granlund. I'm not sure that's the case. Assuming Bollig is just too different of a player, Raymond's been waived already and Jooris has sat a bunch of times as well. So while Granlund is waiverproof and can be sent down, I don't think there's much of an impediment to sending Raymond, who won't be claimed, or Jooris who probably wouldn't be either.

Would definitely help. That 2nd line doesn't look very good. On a more positive note I hope Ferland gets a full game on the top line. Interested to see how that line does tonight. Sure would be nice if those 3 could develop some good chemistry.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 30 days have passed and Raymond would need to clear waivers aggressive. Not that it's actually a major problem.

Edit: Nvm, misunderstood your post. I agree.

I'm trying to understand why Engelland is still in. Smid played awesome for two games and then gets randomly scratched the next two.

Engelland has not been great since early in the season when he had Kulak/Hamilton handling a lot of primary puck-moving duties. Wideman doesn't have the skating to do what those two guys were doing.

Since Smid's conditioning stint he's been the better player. By a big margin.

I think Bennett - Granlund - Jooris could be fun to watch as they each have a part of their game that complements each other. Listed as the second line but I'm sure they'll be use more as a third with Bouma - Stajan - Jones taking on the top defensive assignment.

Hope Ferland shines on the big line too! Hard not to be happy for his turn in life in the past few years

Going to the game, first time seeing Bennett, Gaudreau, Ferland. Hopefully they put in a strong effort.

Agreed.

Anyone know what our win loss record has been since he went out?

I think they are 5-5 since the win against the Preds on Dec 15.

I haven't been a big supporter of Ferland outside of the playoffs but lately he seems to be able to generate some offense and some good plays. I'm taking that as a sign that his confidence is growing.

I really hope he can stick up there cause his size and physicality would help that line immensely.

I am a big Granlund fan and hope to see more from him. I feel like his play may have dropped off from when he was first called up. Seems like that happened last year too.

Interesting comments from Colborne:

http://calgaryherald.com/sports/hock...hnny-and-monny

The daily duties of the ideal candidate?

“Go to the net, be a physical presence, get in on the forecheck,” Colborne suggested. “I’d get the puck and get it in their hands. That was pretty much it — put it into either of those two guys’ hands.”

Simple, right?

“But it’s not always the easiest,” Colborne warned. “Those guys like to have the puck on their sticks, too. You have to be willing to play without the puck a lot and just know it could come to you at any second.”

I think Colborne recognizes he wasn't the fit for just that reason.

I think this will be a huge game for ferland and I think we will all be talking about how great a fit he is in that top line by the end of tonight. 1 goal, 1 assist, and a fight for ferland tonight. Gaudreau with 3 points. Monahan with a goal. Flames win 4-2.

Not a fan of Backlund and Ferland being split up, they've been awesome together. That said, I'm even less of a fan of Colborne, Jones or Mayray being on the top line.

This lineup looks so bare without Hudler or Frolik. 2 top 6 forwards, a borderline 19 year old top 6 (Bennett may be looking great, but need production regardless from a top 6). The rest are bottom 6. Sure we have several great bottom 6 guys and Ferland is close to breaking out, but you can cycle anyone outside of Monahan and Gaudreau and end up with the same result.

I've wanted to see Ferland on the top line for a while now. I think he's got the skating and hands to keep up. Wouldn't mind seeing him rough up anyone that slashes Gaudreau either.

If he did that Hartley would pull him off the line the second he took a penalty. That's not the flames identity
