Next year what's clear to me is they have to get guys in the lineup who will keep their feet moving. Standing still in the defensive zone is unacceptable in any situation.

Men vs boys. Gio really ought to think about retiring, he basically sucks at this point.
Cool it

We're talking a 5 on 4 for 5 seconds versus 20+ seconds.

no, it's not wrong, you never leave your own zone (definitely on the long change) when you are pinned in, you leave the zone and one guy is open, he at least is taking up some passing space and can block the shot.

It's obvious this is some kind of a truism and it's what players are told, but I don't get why.

It's really obvious that's stupid. Especially when the other team is pressuring like Dallas was there, having a guy with no stick is probably worse than being on the PK, because there's constant confusion as to who should be doing what, when there'a a guy who's kind of useful but not really.

I really don't get why someone thought this is a good idea, I really don't think there's statistical evidence to support this idea.

Long change
Team already scrambling and line is tired
Fleeing the zone at that point just wouldn’t be a good idea

Not even in the same conversation. The stars benefitted form calls helping them gain and keep Momentum continually.

The flames were the better team with any of the previous games reffing

Congrats to the refs on a game well managed?

Honestly I wasn't getting as aggravated by the calls against the Flames, even though at least a couple were utterly questionable.

I was getting aggravated by the 80's style hooking and holding and obstruction that the Stars are allowed to get away with.

The officiating has been poor throughout the series.
