There is clearly no obvious way to make fun of this franchise name.
Also, did I just find out that The Living Daylights is a remake of Octopussy?

It should be something plural like most teams are.
The comparables I guess are the wild and lightning (but people say bolts) but this one doesn't flow quite as nicely.
Still it's no golden knights (theres a reason why people just say vegas), definite improvement.

I don’t know why people can’t get behind a fun name like this.
The practice of naming sports teams after objects/animals/nature is already really kind of bizarre when you boil it down, so why not have fun with it?

I do think that more teams should take on qualifiers as part of their name.
Rain City Bitch Pigeons = good
Rain City Pigeons = bad
Seattle Pigeons = really bad
City Bird = starting to get good again for some reason

Wichita, KS where I live brought the New Orleans Babycakes to town to bring back affiliated baseball. I literally said, well at least they can't come up with a worse name than Babycakes. Boy was I wrong
The Wichita Wind Surge is the proud new Florida Marlins affiliate. Is that fun?
Kraken is bad, but not as bad as the Wind Surge...oh, and the logo......its maybe worse.
Hopefully Seattle knocks the logo and jersey out of the park

I’m hoping Neil Diamond’s Kraken Rosie is adopted as their theme song.

In a league where a team has the name 'Ducks,' I'm sure Kraken will eventually fall into place. Wouldn't have been my first choice but what do we care

I wonder if they’ll call their rink the Rum Pot.

Here is my first hand reporting on the new arena when I was there Dec. 27th:
http://newarenaatseattlecenter.com/
They are basically keeping the roof from the Old Key Arena (near the Space Needle) and shoving a whole new arena under the old roof. I'm not so sure what is so great about the old roof - doesn't look that special to me. Looks like they have a ton of work to do to be ready on time.
They are clearly angling for an NBA team.

The old roof is a designated historic site, I believe. Don't ask me why, but that's the reason for their avoiding it.

Below the thunders of the upper deep;
Far far beneath in the abysmal sea,
His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep
The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee
About his shadowy sides; above him swell
Huge sponges of millennial growth and height;
And far away into the sickly light,
From many a wondrous grot and secret cell
Unnumber'd and enormous polypi
Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green.
There hath he lain for ages, and will lie
Battening upon huge seaworms in his sleep,
Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;
Then once by man and angels to be seen,
In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.

Love the rum ( mind you im a longtime dark rum honk) but hate the name for a hockey team.
Terrible....not quite Mighty Ducks bad, but still horrible.

Is 'Kraken' by definition singular though?
It could 'a' Kraken or 'the' Kraken referring to a grouping of Kraken? A shoal? A Shoal of Kraken?
I can see it.
Honestly, I'm okay with it. I was advocating for the Rain City Bitch Pigeons or something to honour Seattle's long and storied history of rampant methamphetamine abuse. You know, something more along their own cultural lines as opposed to being named after a mythical sea monster from the other side of the world.
I hate to break it to Seattleians (<-WTF?) but you're not coastal to all oceans, just the Pacific.
