that's a pretty crappy haul for the devils to trade Hall. Why would the Devils take that poo-poo platter, especially as the draft pick wouldn't be very high?

we're talking a full year of an MVP player. would take a heck of a lot more than that.

I listened to the interview. What struck me was Conroy had these observations - like a flyby on Soderberg - but it seems like he didn't do anything about it.

Like it seemed like they left it up to the coaching staff but why would you wait to call out bad play in the series?!!?? If you think the intensity is down go down and do something about it. Yell at them. What is with the passive observation. That's a big problem.

Yell at the coaches so they yell at the players. What the hell is going on with this team? Hands off, that's not your department?!?? What??!! Straighten #### out immediately!

This thread title looks ridiculous after some time to get this over the playoff choke. Rot would be more applicable to a team that missed the playoffs like the Ducks or Oilers. Not a division winner that went cold at the wrong time and just needs a few tweaks.

My thoughts:
-Goodbye to Frolik, Stone, and Neal. Take what you can get. If no takers for Neal give him one more chance.
-Trade from D to help the forwards. See if Brodie can get you a top 6 C or RW. If you get the RW Lindholm can move to centre.
-Need a goalie to replace Smith. Trade or FA? I don’t know.
-If you can unload Neal sign a physical bottom 6 RW to a short deal.
-Keep Hathaway and Fantenberg if they are happy at under a million on a 1 or 2 year deal. If not find replacements in FA.

If you remove the two top players with playoff experience from the flames and the Canes (Neal and Smith vs Williams and Staal) the number of playoff games is pretty even. 125 total for Carolina and 112 for Calgary.

Carolina had just as many first timer playoff starters as Calgary did.

the Flames' issue is much more than playoff experience...its about identifying those players who don't shrink under the bright lights

How many points in the playoffs and Stanley Cups do Williams and Staal have?

Canes absolutely took on all the attributes of Brindamour , the player....and coach.

Wiilliams and Staal bought in and everyone else followed.

I'm pretty sure Treliving would trade him for a bag of pucks but I don't see that happening. There's been a trend over the past 3-4 years where we are seeing 30 year old guys like Ladd, Lucic, Eriksson, Brouwer, Neal, Okposo fall off the face of the earth after signing big contracts and the common denominator is that none of them have been traded (one bought out) because teams are wising up. I really hope Treliving has learned his lesson as it's been a costly one for the Flames.

so, its not playoff experience, its having guys with playoff experience now?

point in fact all of the canes are playing well, even the guys with zero playoff experience.

Slavin is leading him in scoring in the playoffs. His first

Exactly.
Following the leadership, who produce AND have won before.

leadership helps, without a doubt.

but that was what Neal was supposed to do... in all fairness to BT, no one thought he'd fall off a cliff... but i didn't see a lot of fight in this team... i don't know if i saw a lot of fight in Neal quite honestly.

in the 2004 run, Iginla carried that team on his back and that was his first playoff...

Calgary can't afford another overage UFA signing this year...the room, barring any major trades, has to figure it out...

Not disagreeing with anything in this post.

The Flames best players need to figure out why and what happened against Colorado and fix it.

Canes players did.

Maybe Lindholm can move to C now but I'm still not sold that he can be the line driving #1C this team needs. I sound like a broken record I know, but I still can't believe Treliving didn't get ROR when he was available. Blows my mind.
Still believe this, and I know some here still love Bennett, but IMO he's not the answer either.

Treliving knew it too, that's why he tried to deal a Dman for a top 6 C. Too bad a NTC got in the way, and then the Valimaki injury made dealing a pending UFA Dman even harder.

At least Valimaki is expansion exempt I guess?
