I know it might not be a big deal or anything but it seems like Johnny is extremely excited about the upcoming season and the Flames in general..
- Buddies with Hanafin
- Reached out to Neal upon signing
- Posted a video of himself rocking Flames swim trunks a day or two ago
- Out in Calgary early to take on the Stampede with his Dad
These things can go a long way and hopefully contribute to him signing another deal here after his current one expires.

I believe it's in the first interview with Neal on the Fan.
Said Monahan Gaudreau and Giordano reached out to him

It's great that Guy Gaudreau is past his medical issues and can be a part of the Stampede.

A couple of long playoff runs and hopefully a Cup championship will go a long way towards him re-signing as well.
We've got what, 5 years left on his current deal? Hopefully this team can become a serious contender within that time frame, starting with the 2018/19 season.

Four years left for Gaudreau, but with how ready he has been to step up for the team in public events and welcome-wagon calls to new players I have to think that Calgary will remain high on his list when he eventually becomes a pending UFA.

We need to find him a nice Calgarian girl to settle down with in order to anchor him to the city even further.

Yes - but let's not rush it.
So many great hockey players take a step back once hockey becomes only #2 in their life.

Really? I would think a lot of players would become more focused when they settled down with a partner and have a family.

Iginla's slow decline's beginnings coincided with the birth of his first child, so take from that what you will.

And Giordano became an elite defenseman and captain of an NHL club. So, I guess we can't paint everyone with the same brush.

Correlation does not equal causation.
The average age of marriage and children typically occur after star players have broken into the league. But if you look at late bloomers (Ferland, Gio) they excelled during those events.

That's not even close to being true. His oldest child was born during the lockout. His next was born two years later, and his youngest two years after that.
His two best seasons were 06/07 and 07/08, when he had one young daughter and a pregnant wife/newborn son.
He had one point-per-game season before his first child was born. He had 4 after.

You're correct. I was thinking of a different player and conflated the two, misremembering the circumstance.
I was wrong.

This was Johnny last year. Hopefully he bought boots since then.
Apparently it didn't go that well:
JOHNNY HOCKEY, NOT JOCKEY
Gaudreau attended his first Calgary Stampede this summer, at which he climbed onto a horse and slid his black Yeezys into the stirrups. Presumably that picture was taken early in the morning, before Gaudreau got bucked off.
“So we’re on a declining hill,” he says. “There’s 150 horses around there before the parade starts, and they’re all s------ around everywhere. We’re at the top of the hill and the horse’s legs give out, and as he stands up he bucks me off and I’m rolling down the hill in all this crap. And then I had to ride on the horse. It was a long day. It was disgusting. I got a new shirt.”
