not sure what kind of prospects they have but you'd think some active players would flip back to Ott for salary reasons
The Thornton contract wouldnt make a difference as it's only one year

I think Vegas is the only team that has the cap space to fit Karlsson and Bobby Ryan in, if that rumour is true.

Doubt too many teams would top that trade for a player who wants out and will cost that much.

Why would Ottawa want to bring back 12M in Cap worth of scraps. With a first pitched in.

Karlsson as a Rental next deadline would get a better return than that.

The trade was Brodie (4.5M 2 more years) and definitely not scraps. same age as Karlsson

Stone (3.5M 2 more years) Also not scraps, an upgrade on Ottawas current D. Gets to play with his brother. Apparently Send have already shown interest.

2019 First (Ottawa doesn't have one)

Dude (Not scraps and ELC)

That is 8M in Salary back, Not 12M in scraps. Read the post before making dumb comments.

The Islanders make so much sense here... they do still need a goalie though. Throw in Andersen.

Sure, if that 'dude' is someone like Tkachuk. The Sens are going to get a hell of a lot more than leftover crap you don't want.

We couldn't fit Karlsson under the cap let alone taking Ryan which will likely be part of the deal. Not sure why people are even speculating on this.

Ok well wait and see how much better the return is than that. See how many teams are willing to give up their 'Tkachuk's' for an aging, expensive, injury prone defenceman.

Islanders makes sense to them, probably not desirable for Karlsson...

Have to think Vegas and Bruins would be frontrunners (Stars have Klingberg, Sharks have Burns). Not having to face the relentless forecheck and licking potential of Marchand alone is a selling point!

Aging? Injury Prone? Expensive? You’re nuts.

He’s 28 and he missed 16 games total over the last 5 years.

Not only is he NOT old or injury prone, he’s demonstrated he’s a warrior having played through various injuries.

The Doughty deal ($11M per year) would be a steal.

An "aging, injury prone defenceman" he's already 'offered' $75 million to, no less.

Sorry I didnt do my research on injuries. Just heard hes had major injury issues in past. But he’s not young and just cause Doughty is getting 11 per doesnt mean he is cheap. Lots of teams that are contenders would have to dump unwanted cap to get him.
