Swansea have apparently managed to sign Renato Sanches on loan. Surely Paul Clements ties have helped them pull this off ... he's been a huge disappointment at Bayern, will be interesting to see if he can get his career back on track now.

Wow, what a fall, from when we really wanted him at United.

Ox is indeed moving to Liverpool for 35m. I guess that's a strong contender for "most ridiculously expensive fee for an overrated Englishman" ... let's see if Ross Barkley can top that.

Arsenal probably headed for a few years in the 6th-8th zone. Kroenke has to be one of the worst owners in sports.

You do have to wonder what's going on at Arsenal. Looking like Sanchez will be going too, and there doesn't seem to be a sniff about them signing anybody by tomorrow.
As for Oxlade-Chamberlain, I'm not sure that we need him at Liverpool (especially in centre midfield), so it's somewhat of a surprising signing. I get the argument that we need squad players this season, but it seems like an expensive signing for a squad player.

They have more cash than any other Club in the world. But the owner is a bloodsucking leech that sucks the lifeblood out of every sporting entity he owns.
Something is going on.
When he took over the Avs they had a Stanley Cup winning team. Look at them now.
History is repeating itself at Arsenal.

Sanches is a good player and likely a win for Swansea, but its really no different than what tends to happen all the time.
It kind of reminds me of when Fabregas went to Barcelona, it was a dream move! And then the harsh reality was that starting for Arsenal didnt mean he was going to play much for Barca and lo and behold, guess who comes back?
Its tough whehn you move to a big club and theres 3 or 4 guys ahead of you and its also tough to compare National Team success to club success unless Sanches gets bought by a club that plans on not conceding goals and holding out to win on penalties after 120 minutes.

I still really dont know how I feel about this, I mean, the kid is good and I have a bit of respect for taking less to play his preferred position more, but theres a limited number of those spots.
We shall see. I am trying to distance my interest in this season from the money aspect. I find the Finance of Football interesting but it also gets in the way of enjoying the game and ultimately, it isnt my money so why should I care?
I'm trying to separate the two varying interests, but yes, Liverpool certainly paid the 'English Premium.'

even when you dismiss the money part, I'm just shocked how in demand those bang average English players are. How does it get to a point where a guy like Ox can comfortably reject a club like Chelsea? How is Ross Barkley a serious option for those top 6 clubs? How does someone like Rob Holding score an Arsenal gig? How is Jesse Lingard earning 100k per week? Just mind-blowing.

Ox is leaving Arsenal and rejecting Chelsea because he wants to play football in a position where he feels he can be his best.
I really respect him for that and hope he does well for Liverpool.

Ya, my respect just went way up for him
Probably saw with Theo how getting told he would get more chances in the middle before signing worked out
Turned down Chelsea and it sounds like 2-3m a year, because he would be their perm RWB, he's not playing CM ahead of Kante, Cesc, or Bakayoko
At least at Liverpool, he will get playing time there. Can, Hendo, and Winaljdum is not an unbreakable triumvirate

Especially not when you consider injuries and multiple competitions.

As the silly season reaches midnight, Evans is another hot commodity, with West Brom having turned down bids of $25m from Arsenal & Leicester.
Looks like it'll probably be City for $30m.

The question is why did Wenger and Conte not feel the same way?

Ahh the transfer window. He's going somewhere. Where? We'll see (probably end up being none of the above)
