Thursday night game Canada Day weekend, Brutal. I guess that's our only Thursday night home game this year so that's a plus.

Pretty "meh" schedule. Not a fan of all the late starts (7:00 and 7:30) -- only Labour Day and Sept 16 have an afternoon/early evening kickoff. Tough to bring kids.
Oh, and I'm expecting a packed house for the Tuesday night preseason game... lol.
On a positive note, only 4 months until football is back!

Wow, what did Ottawa do to piss off the schedule makers?
In a span of 11 days (Fri July 14 to Mon July 24), they play 3 games. That's insane.
Plus, they close out the regular season with 2 byes in the last 3 weeks.

Is Jones at it again?
Johnny Football has worked out for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Sources say Manziel was put through the paces by the Riders in Florida in advance of last month's Senior Bowl. Manziel resides on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' negotiation list, having been added on Sept. 9, 2012, and Saskatchewan did not have permission to conduct the workout. That's a violation of CFL bylaws, according to the league.

Chris Jones says hell no.
gary lawless ✔ @garylawless
from @sskroughriders GM Chris Jones on report of working out Manziel: "No one from our club worked him out. We're considering legal action."

I, like most people outside of Saskatchewan, don't believe or respect a word that comes out of Jones' mouth. As always with the new Riders management, where there is smoke, there is fire.

@jamienye:
From #CFL's Paulo Senra re: Manziel: "We are investigating. The Riders tell us that they did not work out Manziel." con't... #Riders
More from #CFL: "At this point, it appears the report is false. Should other evidence come to light, we will deal with it accordingly."

That Lawless tweet looks really bad on Justin Dunk.
@garylawless:
Denise Michaels, spokesperson for Johnny Manziel, tells TSN her client did not work out for @sskroughriders or for any #cfl @cfl team

Wonder what Dunk's source was as his stuff is typically legit. Either his source flat out lied to him or the Riders and Manziel had some sort of handshake agreement where he would not admit to working out. Considering Jones doesn't have a starter I'm not convinced this didn't happen as we all know he operates like the rules don't apply to him.

Wouldn't it be easy for an associate, say a friend of Jones' who he trusts and who also coaches football, to hold a workout for Manziel and report back to Jones in an unofficial capacity?
Then it is literally just one guy telling another guy his thoughts on a player in an unofficial capacity. I'm not sure if anyone would care about that. In fact, I'm sure that if Manziel wants to get back into football he would gladly hold public workouts, for anyone to watch and see, if he thought it would get him an offer.
Kinda reminds me of one of the storylines in season 2 of Ballers.

He can't stay healthy and he doesn't have the game breaking speed that he used to have. I don't know why they would do a two year deal on him.

Does term really matter on cfl deals? They can just release him if he doesn't perform.

It kind of does depending on when they release him, he's a 6 year veteran so if he gets released on game 9 or after he gets paid.
So lets say that he makes the team this year and next year and they decide to cut him because he's old and slow, they would have to do it before game 9. After game 9 he gets full salary.

Don't the Riders already start the season with 26K less of cap room?

I still like Huf's quote from last year (he was referring to the Blue Bombers, but it applies to any CFL team):
“I’d say that’s a little surprising,” Hufnagel said from his office Tuesday afternoon. “How many years are they going to do it? You answer me that. They didn’t sign any of their guys, and they sign other people’s guys. I prefer to sign my own guys. That’s just me.”
