Well it's not just Albertans that throw that sentiment around.

While no, one shouldn't be held accountable for their parent's mistakes, do you honestly think people's attitudes aren't shaped by their parents?

People hide behind "well its only a joke", yet it is a joke which is well repeated.

I truly believe my parents generation are still so pissed at his dad that somewhere deep down they want our current PM to act like him, against their own self interests, just so they can vent that old outrage.

His dad screwed up royally, but the current PM doesn't have that guilt.

There are enough valid points to be critical on our PM that you don't need to bring this into the discussion - joking or not.

Edit: I should add that my rant comes from the constant fear mongering I heard that Justin wants to hurt the west or hates the west, which when you get down to the facts, doesn't appear to be true at all (even if he isn't "good for the west, which is another discussion). Relating him to his dad, who did seem to hate Alberta, just gives fuel to those thoughts people already have.
Where do you think he got this line of thinking from?

So you'd be cool if one of Harper's kids go into politics and a third of Canadians loathe him simply because they loathed his dad?

What would I care if people don't like Harper's kid? People don't like public figures for a plethora of reasons, a lot of them based in much less rationale than this. Read the HNIC thread, I'd be willing to bet a third of Canadians loathed Strombolopolis simply because of his suits.

If the people that loathed Harper also loathed his child that followed his path, I think it'd be a perfectly normal human tendency, and it's not exactly irrational to think a child is shaped by a parents opinions and actions.

If it's the rationale is correct however is another question all together, but he hasn't exactly made any leaps or bounds to change that opinion, weather its warranted or not.

Trudeau is where he is because of his dad and his last name, you have to take the good with the bad on that.

Further, I'm led to believe that children learn and are molded by their parents so thinking that he would harbour some of the same biases and beliefs isnt unreasonable.

I was going to comment that it was just like the government to schedule this on a weekday afternoon when most people who would support the pipeline would be hard at work.

Oh. Yeah.

I think AECO nat gas pricing is about to go off a cliff. Not forever, but could be a dicey month or three.

This. If his name were Justin Pierre, a politically minded individual from Montreal without a famous last name, then someone else is Prime Minister today.

JT is where his is because of his father, and because he's a pretty boy. Pretending otherwise is naïve. That being said, those factors merely provided his opportunity. The longer he goes, the more his story will be written by himself and his current handlers.

Just read this report this morning. Looks like large natural gas supply inventory is causing this fall.

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/eia...ies-2016-07-07

I just checked the WTI, it basically fell off a cliff too.

Any reason for the $3 drop in WTI this morning? EIA reported a 2.5M bbl draw.

The draw was way less than what people were expecting/hoping for.

Stupid people believed the API numbers which appear to be formulated via dart board. The draw was still decent, but less than the market thought.

Oil drops more than 4% on disappointing weekly crude draw
July 7, 201611:47 AM BOE Report Staff

Oil prices fell nearly 5 percent on Thursday, reversing early gains after the U.S. government reported a weekly crude draw that disappointed investors expecting larger declines.

Brent crude oil futures fell $2.28, or 4.7 percent, at $46.52 per barrel at 1:06 p.m. ET (1706 GMT) on Thursday. It rose 1.6 percent earlier to a session high of $49.59.

WTI crude was trading at $45.16 per barrel, down $2.27, or 4.8 percent.

Oil prices have risen more than 70 percent from 12-year lows of around $27 for Brent and $26 for U.S. crude in the first quarter, driven by unexpected crude supply outages from Nigeria to Canada.

It seems to be a massive over reaction. Energy stocks have held up decently despite the drop.

Yeesh, API numbers are a joke. I'm surprised anyone takes them seriously.

So how low does it go this year? Seems to be repeating the exact same cycle as last summer. This is brutal.
