Bennett steal outright a top six position
Rittich or Gillies to outright steal the net away and not give it up

About the only top 6 spot Bennett could steal would be 2C, so if that happened this year, it would be a great development for the Flames. As would the emergence of a legitimate starter to replace Smith. And both would probably be necessary for the Flames to become a Cup contender.

A legitimate goaltender under 30 emerges. One of our young defensmen plays most of the season in the nhl and earns a top 4 spot by playoffs
Gio-Anderson
Hanifin-Hamonic
Brodie-Stone
Brodie has a great season with reduced defensive responsibility. Gets packaged in a deal to Ottawa for Stone with an extention. Frolik gets moved for a 2nd but not before he helps Jankowski and Bennett reach career highs.

#1 - Sam Bennett breaks out for 20+ goals and approaches 50 pts.
#2 - Noah Hanifin looks like a young future first pairing Dman.
#3 - Jusso Valimaki takes an everyday spot in the D core by seasons end.

I think this is very short sighted as just about the second thing you learn about Bill Peters is that he likes to mash up his lines constantly.
The notion that the flames will have a clear-cut top 6 this year is laughable as we should with the depth we now have, be able to roll 9 guys in various combinations.
I believe bennett, lindholm, ryan, neal, thachuk, backlund, and janko will all see significant time playing in various positions in the "top 6"
Bennett should see an uptick in scoring just based solely on the fact that his linemates will no longer be the brouwer, versteeg and hathaway's of the world and more time with skilled players like neal, lindholm, etc.
It's astounding how a guy can just fall from grace around here because a crap coach used him poorly. Sam won't shoot at <5% again this year, that much can basically be guaranteed.

I just want this team to gel. It seems like we get so few stretches where the top line, 2nd line, depth scoring, defence, and goaltenders are all playing well at once.
I'm so tired of seeing teams that look good on paper being totally unable to find chemistry on the ice. Once again, this year we've got a team that looks great on paper. All the right pieces are there. They just need to put it together. If that means Bennett becoming only a 40 point player, but being the guy that provides the consistent depth scoring or Tkachuk maxing out as a 60 point player, but being the consistent physical player, I'm fine with that. I just want the team to play as a team for 82 games.

In the last game against the Oilers in the regular season, after the Flames sweep the season series, Connor McDavid looks sadly at his team mates, pats Drai on the shoulder and says "Lets Go"

What I really want is simple.
Be in contention for the division lead ALL season. Would be nice to see a Flames team on the ice that looks as good as it does on paper.

I'm merely referring to another poster really wanting him to be in the top 6 this year, considering that he likely won't be a top 6 LW on this team (would have to pass Tkachuk or Gaudreau on the depth chart) and hasn't played RW at a professional level (and is a left shot). I see him as being more of a top 9 this year, and I do believe that the 1st/2nd lines and 2nd/3rd lines will be largely interchangeable under Peters. Best case scenario for the Flames would be if Bennett wrestled the 1C position away from Monahan, but I don't see that happening any time soon.
