Could be. But the wording is poorly done no matter if the true reason comes out or not. If something happened at the draft he could easily have tweeted that.

To be fair, they announced on the episode before that there would be an Elliotte-only version after the draft because Marek had to fly out before Friedman. But yes, it is weird that they didn't do a Free Agency catch up, since they touched on that in the same episode.

I've always found Marek a little much, but I've also only ever listened to him paired up with Friedman & Wysh - so I feel like he feels the need to "play a part" opposite them, when really I wish he'd just be himself. If I had to guess, the "draft related reasons" means he's taking a prospects-focused job elsewhere. Maybe EliteProspects or a scouting job? Or maybe TSN for Memorial Cup coverage?

It'd be sick if the guys at Puck Soup could get him on as a guest once he's no longer at SN - I know he and Lambert are buds.

Trade DGB for Marek. One for one.

Maybe he is switching to some Leafs only thing, it's pretty much all he ever talks about anyway.

He's good at his job, but hardly ever talks Flames and therefore I skip through most of it.

I heard (unconfirmed) that the "draft reasons" are he was upset that David Amber hosted the draft instead of him.

Maybe it was a typo and he's leaving for daft reasons.

That would be on brand for Spiertsnet.

Has Marek hosted the draft before? If he had it before, or was told he would be the host and subsequently replaced, I could see him leaving hope ‘draft’ reasons.

That said, I’d put more stock into the likelihood that his contract has simply come to an end and the two sides can’t agree on a new deal.

If it is scandalous he doesn't need to worry, Edmonton will be giving him a job.

Very possible as we all know how tight the purse strings are with Rogers. Only two more seasons left in the jail sentence for Canadian hockey fans so there's finally light at the end of the tunnel!

Sportsnet should hire Scorp.

Brutal news if true, 32 thoughts was one of the better podcasts at the NHL level. Everything else I've come across is pretty team centric.

Hopefully we only have two more years of cheap assed Sportsnet.

Too bad. I enjoy Marek and his chemistry with Elliotte. He does enjoy his quirky and obscure facts and asides about junior hockey, but it's fun overall. 32 Thoughts and Flames Talk are my go-to hockey podcasts.

Didn't the Flames just sign an 11 year extension with Rogers?

Friedman is probably tired of it anyways. I think he has enough media hits on all of the other podcasts and radio around the country plus his SN panel role.

But we'll see if he continues it with a new partner, or still puts out a podcast in a different form.

I think they mean the national rights.

It was always a foregone conclusion as TSN has no local radio presence and has over the years never seemed inclined to bid for the Flames coverage as their interests have always been primarily out east. Very likely TSN will get the national rights the next go-around or at the very least some sort of shared thing with Rogers. Either way, less Rogers is a win-win for Canadian hockey fans.
