They need to start picking up points for playoffs. It is still possible for them considering all most all the teams they need to pass they play almost exclusively for the rest of the season.

Sportsclubstats only gives them a 23.8% chance at playoffs right now.

They had a good chance to make up some points last weekend against San Jose but gave up 3 of 4 points (they got 2) and lost ground.

The loss of Grant is a huge blow.

A line of Shinkaruk - Grant - Poirier would have been fun.

Looks like it will be Shinkaruk - Shore - Poirier

But losing your top C. and the leading goal scorer in the league, is a lousy first step towards a massive playoff run.

Then you have Nakladal and Wotherspoon called up. Another huge blow.

And Ortio.

After the deadline, there will probably be more. It's a fact of life in the AHL, but the Heat are going to experience more than their fair share.

Yeah if the Flames trade anywhere near as many guys as they are reportedly shopping then the Heat roster is going to get decimated post trade deadline.

I don't like to see both Stockton and the Flames at the bottom of the standings. Players transfer from one gloomy locker room to the next.

But mind you, I would be pissed if career AHLers were getting 20-30 mins a night while our top prospects were getting benched. So you can't have your cake and eat it too
