It's becoming increasingly more clear that the website I created to track stats in my league will need to remain alive. GM Connected is never coming back, is it?

So they took the NHL Threes mode from last year and changed the backgrounds. Totally worth $80.
Oh, and they added outfits. Like The Sims...

What a useless trailer. The biggest problem with the series has been actual gameplay. That first trailer shows me nothing as far as improvements in this area. The team that manages this game really needs to be replaced already.

I was dead set on skipping this year, but then I clicked on the link and saw I can get a Peter Forsberg HUT legend card for buying the upgraded edition... so now instead of skipping it, I'm going to be spending $100 on it. Good job everyone. Way to go.

I haven't bought NHL since 15 after pretty much buying it every year before that. Seems like they are putting too many resources towards wacky gimmick modes instead of vastly improving the core game. From what I understand they haven't even switched over to the same graphics engine that the other EA sports titles use this gen? NHL should be a budget title now. They should be selling this for $40. I can't remember the last time I read about hockey fans being excited about this release.

Of course it'll suck. It's the same game as last year and the year before, which pretty much sucked.
I'm confused as to how Sean Ramjagsingh is still employed given how much grief he gets as the figurehead and whipping boy associated with a product that, to be fair, definitely deserves a whole lot of criticism. At some point you'd figure EA would say, "we've heard you, we're going to make a big change here". But perhaps they're content to get the sales they can get with what essentially amounts to a roster update each season.
I've said before I'd buy this again once they brought back GM Connected though, so I guess I'm not even asking for a major overhaul.

They screwed up HUT so bad last year I'm not really keen on buying 19. A HUT forsberg legend card (which there will be way to many of) isn't going to get me back into HUT.

Are they still not moving it over to the Frostbite engine that all their other games are using?!

NHL remains one of the two EA sports franchises to delay the transition to Frostbite, but even that is perhaps to NHL's benefit, as FIFA in particular has experienced only marginal gains while struggling with optimization issues. NHL producer Sean Ramjasingh says of the Frostbite Engine, "We're still evaluating. It's not easy getting on a new engine, it's kind of like a console transition. We're monitoring FIFA and Madden and learning about the successes and challenges they've had."

Kind of a shame they didn't try it with the same engine they built for FIFA on Switch. I would have loved to play this game on handheld.

Going off Rammer's comment there I'm overly pleased they're not going with frostbite. The first NHL game on a new console is stripped almost bare every generation (and I'm very hard to disappoint).
I'm curious to see the graphical/animation tweaks in action (apparently the magnetic puck pick-up has been completely addressed). Beyond that there's nothing here that interests me. I just want GM Connected but they seem dead set against bringing it back.

Huge pass. I don't see any upgrade to the AI which is so broken. Play NHL 18 and computer controlled players handle the puck like a grenade or just leave it and skate away. So freakin bad.
