Donating to Chu is legal, but that doesn't make it right. Woolley is within his rights to oppose Chu's donors so long as does not abuse his power as a city councillor to do so - but that's a fine line and he should've stayed well clear of it. He's put himself in a spot where decisions he may need to make could be suspected of being made to out grudge rather than for the good of the city.

Chu is a moron but I think Woolley went about this the wrong way. He should have blasted Chu with facts and information rather than taunts. We don't want our Civic politics to resemble a Trump speech. If we allow/encourage Woolley to throw insults what's to stop another moron like Farkas from calling Woolley a Communist or pedophile? Norms and rules are important.

Shouldn’t he be going after the people who vote for him then?

Probably more effective to target corporations than individual citizens, which would look really bad.

I think it’s a pretty poor look for elected officials to be targeting private citizens and their businesses because they don’t like the guy who they donate to. Maybe Woolley should just show some integrity and speak out on the issues that are relevant.

I'm happy to see Chu called out, even it means people losing their minds on social media and yelling OBJECTION! to do it.
Dude is a complete blank wall with terrible ideas, oddball thought patterns, and is stubbornly bad at being a team player.
Calgary deserves better. GTFO.

New blog post from Shane Keating, Setting the Record Straight: https://www.shanekeating.ca/2020/11/...-reallocation/
I know he has said he won't be seeking re-election as a Councilor, but if he ran for mayor, I think he'd have my vote.

So with all the UCP MLA Covid-19 holiday vacationers it looks like Calgary city councilors for the most part provided confirmation with Calgarians they stayed in town during the holidays except one. No surprise who refused.

Oh we'll find out when he submits his travel expenses....
Took Trudeau and his entire family out for lunch and dinner at a 5 star hotel in Barbados. $12,500us.
Hosted Biden and all the Democrats Senators in Atlanta for a 10 course banquet. $45,000us
What a jackass. lol Can't believe they haven't booted him off council yet.

They can't. Only the voters of Ward 2 have the power to boot Magliocca off council.

Based on his year-end interview with the Herald, it appears that Nenshi might be running for a 4th term: https://calgaryherald.com/news/local...moment-in-2021
Quote:
“Early in the year, people I know would always say, ‘Well, as a Calgarian, I kind of wish you’d run again. But as your friend, it’s time for you to think about something else.’ But now it’s really shifted after COVID,” he said.
“I’m feeling a ton of pressure from all sides of the political spectrum. Even people who don’t like me very much saying, ‘Could you just do this again? Get us out of this and hand it over to my guy or my girl later.’ And I’m also hearing that from a lot of people who want to be mayor: ‘Could you just give me four more years?'”
But he is sure that Calgary needs a mayor who, as he describes it, “can meet this critical moment in history.”
“My job is to make the moment less critical, and figure out if I or someone else can meet that moment. So that’s really what’s going through my head now.”

Don't worry. We will take care of that. Unlike Wards 7/11 we will ensure that our trash is taken out to the dump.

Last thing we need is corporate backed ideologues taking power instead of someone who genuinely wants to do a good job (although I admit Nenshi has been a bit clumsy about it at times). For Farkas types, you only have to look at the UCP to see what type of governance we'd end up getting.

Unlike Bill Smith who we rejected last go around, Farkas is a known quantity. To me, that makes the decision much easier. If the challenger is Farkas, I’d vote Nenshi again, wouldn’t even be a difficult choice.
