Yep... that long service game was the end of Carlos. Still weird to see him just give up like that. Compare that to what we saw from Bianca.
Anyway... Ladies and gentlemen, your new Canadian #1: Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Felix is 0-1 against Medvedev but last year we saw Medvedev melt down in the semi against Thiem.

One just turned 21 (last month) and the other just turned 19 yesterday. Lest we forget Denis and Bianca are 22 and 21 respectively. What a time to be a Canadian tennis fan.

Yes, yes - it's a great day for Canada, and therefore, the world.

We wouldn’t be thinking that had it ended differently. Sigh…

Brave of him to share this. Always thought he or James Blake would be the next big American of that era. This is a great glimpse of what was happening during that time.

That is a cool stat. It also highlights that some of those players were not able to repeat or sustain their success.
I feel like that won't be true of the current players like FAA and Fernandez. And Bianca is already a contender if she can just stay on the court.

Not to get ahead of myself, BUT you would think Canada will have a great shot at winning David Cup this year. No Rafa for Spain, and Serbia might not even make it out of their group with Germany. Russia and Germany might be the only teams that can beat us.

the best part is how they're all good kids and represent our country with class. no need for Australian style Bad Boy Tennis™ to catch headlines, our players let their results do the talking.

Tough viewing choice - Gaby/Luisa are playing their doubles match or watching Bencic - Raducanu

There are two versions of Bencic. The one currently on court is seen about half the time, and looks like a randomly generated generic women's tennis player with nothing about her game that's particularly strong. That player is losing.

And usually hot-headed Bencic. The last decade of women's tennis has been dire, maybe we are entering a better decade.

The quality between Bencic today, and the Sabalenka Krejcikova match yesterday, compared to Andreescu / Sakkari is... night and day doesn't do it justice. It's barely the same sport. The Sakkari that played that match blows any of these players off the court.

Out of all the remaining players, I feel Sakkari has the best shot if she maintains her greek god like mode through the rest of the tournament.
