At a f***ing block party. Good grief, people just can't go anywhere down there without the fear that something like this could happen.

I was horrified watching that mother and her kids in that Cop's bodycam video posted above. It's like one minute you're at the mall with your family just going about your day in what should be a safe area and suddenly "pop, pop, pop, pop..." mass shooter situation. Notice how the mother seemed to know right away what was happening and immediately shuffled her kids away from the scene. I can't imagine living in a country where that happens so regularly. It's almost at a point down there where people will have to start buying bulletproof vests and wearing them whenever they go out.

We need to expect this response from Police if we don't they get away with an Uvalde.
Uvalde was the exception, not the norm. Police training, at least in Canada, is focused on cops being below others in terms of priorities of life. And cops are trained to move to these threats to take them out. Whether this guy deserves a medal or not, he did what he was trained to do, and what most non-cops wouldn’t even think of doing.

Somehow I doubt mass shootings at block parties are that uncommon in the States.

Uvalde, for all intents and purposes, is basically Mexico.

There was no way this thread wasn't getting bumped today, thought we might see a big one though, 12+ deaths

Well it is a fitting way to mark the holiday, nothing is more American than a mass shooting

This is unfortunately a way of life in many areas of America. I went to a few bars in New Orleans off the tourist ring. It was common to have monitors in the bar showing the front door, so that if there was a conflict, people could rush out the back.

The stroller and race car shopping cart you see in the video near the downed attacker hit a bit harder after reading this. Awful.

Nobody was fatally shot, but, 2 were trampled in the chaos.

Not a US style mass shooting, but we had daylight shootings at two of our most popular more upscale mall areas here in Calgary this weekend at Market Mall and Deerfoot City:

https://globalnews.ca/news/9893181/c...g-aug-11-2023/

For Calgary, that's pretty abnormal, in areas and times most people and their families would consider safe.

Finally a “good news” story for this thread. Don’t let the title fool you. This teacher wanted to make sure there aren’t extra guns in the wrong hands.

When he turned 14, Bolden is accused of buying him a gun on his birthday.

Detectives traced the weapon back to Bolden. But, apparently, the boy wasn’t satisfied with one gun and wanted another, causing tension in the relationship.
