Montreal really isn't that good of a team. If the Flames can't go 5-0 or 4-1 against them, there really was never any hope for the playoffs anyways.
I'm kind of pumped after the last two games, and really love the new line combos. but yes...this 100% needs to be treated like game 3 of 7 and we lost the first two! Pretty excited for the game tonight. Also kind of glad that if we lose the first two games, we know that it's pretty much over, as opposed to dragging it out.

Flames need to be 5-0 against the Habs to have a chance. I am going to be invested until the math says it is impossible. I wouldn’t bet money on it but if this team starts rolling and Markstrom heats up perhaps there is an ability to go 11-2-1 which would give them 62pts which still might now be enough.
Beating the Habs is critical this is absolutely must win
0.953 SP and a 1.00 GAA in his last two starts. Maybe Marktrom is coming back around.

Flames win the next two and Montreal starts to really feel the pressure. This is the season right here. The next 7-8 games are playoff games for this team. Need to ramp up the intensity like it is a playoff game.
It has probably been brought up before, but the Flames are entering a favorable section of their schedule.
0 games against Toronto
1 game against Winnipeg
2 game against Edmonton
5 games against Montreal
4 Games against Vancouver
2 Games against Ottawa
11 of their next 14 games against weak opponents.
I also wonder what condition the canucks will be in. If rumours are true and some players were very sick I could see them playing awful down the stretch.
Montreal is banged up too. Flames win tonight I may get back on the we can make the playoffs bandwagon again.
Can’t win in ot or lose though. Must win in regulation

Takes 16 wins to win a Stanley Cup.
16 games left started last Sat vs Edm.
You have to think Sutter has the boys treating the last 16 games like the playoffs...
...and if they get in, who knows what can happen. Still a huge uphill battle to climb but it's not impossible.
In typical Flames fashion they will win the next 2 against the Habs this week to give fans a glimmer of hope, only to poop themselves against the Canucks and Senators next week.

I wouldn't not be shocked either to see them take care of business against the Habs and then leave that intensity at the door against the other opponents.
Have to take care of all the business, not just vs the team they're chasing. All the points are needed now. Same approach every night as the last two.
Either wring some consistency out of your game for the next month or never. It's not a long time to stay focused and very few days off, so not many distractions. Pedal to the metal, rest of the way. Nothing else matters.
The upside is they could write a real nice story and prove a lot of people wrong if they can catch Montreal's tail.
