$105 for Telus 150 and Optik 6 pack, but promos just ended so up to $150 next month.
I need to give Telus a call back. See if I can play the Shaw promo against them. That said, I've usually had pretty good Telus rep give loyalty discounts pretty easily.

Decided to call last night and the rep gave me $20 off each service (Internet and TV). $110 for Telus 150 and Optik 6 pack.
Has anyone had both Telus and Shaw for internet and tv? Which one is better? I know off topic but tis the season...
I just heard Shaw will have 4K wireless pvr boxes. Telus will have fibre optic but to who (old vs new)
I'm thinking of switching but astoundingly am finding it difficult to choose! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
First question you should ask is can telus give you fibre. If so, then, stop right there and go with telus.
Otherwise its a toss up based on your area. I find optik tv miles ahead of shaw, but the internet is the internet. If you're in a neighborhood with ####ty telus then it will suck, and if your in an area with crappy shaw it will suck too.

Xfinity/Comcast (USA)
80MB download, internet only (own modem).
2 year contract with electronic billing and auto pay. 1 TB limit Monthly, throttle to 10MB down after limit.
$34.99
TV
60 good OTA channels (catch about 85).
Amazon prime video (do not consider a cost)
NFL Sunday Ticket and Red Zone (included with Verizon wireless)
NHL.tv $129 for season
HBO Now - $9.95/month (2 year offer)
Stream any TV I get for free, regardless of source.
Still stream small amount of content by non legal means. Will look to correct that now that it is possible (in US).
Total cost for Internet/TV $55.75US/month (equivalent).
Basically you can't just call up and expect a deal cos you ask nicely. Be prepared - know what Shaw, TekSavvy, etc are offering and their promotions. If you have a student in the house it's worth asking too for a student price. If you've been on hold forever (ie 2+ hours) mention the value of your time. Be patient.
Bottom line is by following the RFD advice I was able to renegotiate our home phone/internet/tv bundle down to ~$85/mo for Internet 75 (but we consistently get more than 100MBps DL), 550GB/mo, Essentials&Crave, phone, 1 4k PVR & 2 boxes. Price for 1 year, no contract. This easily covers our needs.
I played major hardball with Telus, and scored a monster deal.
- HS Optic 150
- 3 wireless boxes with PVR (waived equipment fee)
-Mid range cable pkg, all I care is I get news stations, every Flames game, local stations and Big News.
2 year deal. $80/mth year 1, $90/mth year 2. In October of 2019, rinse and repeat. It's the best Cable deal I've ever got. I was paying more for internet and cable in the late 90's.
On another note, worked Rogers wireless over for a week, and scored their Premium Tab 10 gig with unlimited everything plan for $95/mth for 2 years. That took some work. Had no luck over the phone, but when I got on the chat in the Rogers portal, the guy just caved-in.
Ohh Pylon you might have me beat when the cell is factored in.
Telus.
150 fibre internet
Basic channels plus timeshift plus sports plus entertainment pack (AMC, MovieTime etc) plus HBO/Movie Network.
$88/mth for 1 year. No contract. And I have a 4k box. It is a million times better than the crappy old ones that were super slow and would freeze all the time.

One of my sales guys is an ex Rogers retention guy. He helped a lot. Never take their first offer is what he told me. They always have more up their sleeve. Just don't be an a-hole, or they'll let you cancel. Be nice, appreciative, but firm. "I really appreciate the offer, but I still think I want to cancel." I got 3 better offer bumps out of Rogers, and 2 out of Telus.

I tried this in Newfoundland (St. John's) and they just let me quit. I was paying $66/mo which included Game Centre, but after the year was up, they wanted $95/mo without Game Centre. I cancelled and now pay $40/mo to my downstairs neighbours and the three of us share Bell FibreOP, level 2 out of 3.
I don't have a TV so bundles are out. I don't use data on my cellphone either and pay ~$40/mo for unlimited Canada minutes and texts. I'm decently happy with it. What kills me the most is heat.... woosh.
Bumping this thread. I'm going to be returning to Calgary in a couple of weeks and will need an internet plan. Interested to hear what people are currently paying and what deals there might be going on now.
I have exactly the same except with the kids programming. No time shift channels. We pay far too much for our package with a 2 year locked in contract and Blue Sky. While Blue Sky is cool now that it is interfaced with Netflix, we all here in Canada pay far too much compared to our brothers and sisters to the south.
Don't even get me started on the price for mobile cost services with data limits that a 2 year old could utilize in under an hour.
BlueSky is even more awesome now that it also interfaces with you tube.
I'm around $160 a month for tv, internet and Netflix. once my bluesky contract is up, I think I'll get rid of cable and just do Netflix.
finding I don't watch much on regular tv any more.
