Default internet issues - What to try next

I'm having issues with my internet and I'm trying to figure out what the issues are and haven't been able to figure it out.

many newer websites I have trouble with loading inconsistently

-Gmail won't connect to servers or I can send one email but it won't send any others
-Dropbox won't open or let me upload
-youtube freezes lots
- Fantrax/nfl.com/nhl.com take long to load and sometime don't

but most everything else is fine. If I use the older versions of these sites they work better in basic html, but not always. This computer runs on windows 10, but older laptop I have or my work computer have no issues on my internet that use windows 7 or XP, and I got the wife a new computer and she is having some issues. I have problem with Chrome, Firefox, and IE. Chrome seems to be the worst though. Google searching has indicated people have problems but haven't seen any with the exact issues and how they fixed it.

Anybody have any feedback of what I should try to figure this out? Anybody have these issues?

open an admin command prompt, type

ipconfig /flushdns

if that doesn't work, try clearing the arp cache:

netsh interface ip delete arpcache

next, if required, reset winsock to defaults with these 3 commands, pressing enter after each one. Reboot required.

netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

I suggest you make sure your security and virus scanning tools have the latest definitions and run a scan as well.

I did all the above and changed the DNS, it did help some sites, like dropbox, still have troubles with Gmail etc.

that's funny, because a few months ago I was having the same type of troubles with my shaw account. The internet would basically freeze, I would bo through these steps and everything would come up again.

After a while the problems just faded away and I didn't have to do it anymore.

You could try reinstalling your network card drivers, reboot your router, disabling antivirus, make sure your HOSTS file doesn't have anything weird in it... Oh, and flush your browser cache. See if it works in incognito mode, that will be a good indication if it is related to stored data, like a corrupt profile.
