Wind Mobile Introduces Unlimited US Roaming
Figured this was worthy of it's own thread:
http://windmobile.ca/network-and-cov...tional-roaming
Basically for a $15 add-on, you get unlimited voice, data, and text in the United States.

This is really great timing as I'm really close to paying Fido their early cancellation fees and jumping ship to Wind.
Granted it was our fault for staying on with Fido but Wind is making things really tempting.

This is what competition brings. I want to say what a great deal, and it definitely is the best deal out there right now, I'm just curious what the best deal out there would be if we actually had competition in the market.
I just recently switched to Wind, and am so far extremely happy with the quality.

Too bad they're not bidding in the 700mhz spectrum, because they could really pick up a lot of subscribers with their plans if they had better coverage.

They don't have unlimited Canada roaming because it would require signing a deal with one of the big 3, and obviously Rogers, Telus and Bell won't do that since Wind is their competition.

So I can get unlimited roaming in the US, but I'm roaming at my parents in Springbank? This makes a lot of sense...
I switched to them a few months ago, and I like the price of my bill for sure, but the service is pretty lacking and it can be frustrating.

Why not connect to their wifi?
You get exactly what you pay for with Wind.

So how long until one of the Big 3 do this? When that happens, it's immediate time to jump.

But how does it make sense that they offer this for CDN people in the US but don't offer it for CDN people in Canada?

Well, according to one of the commercials Bell ran when it looked like Wind was going to get American support, they said they always match offers- proving the Canadian market is already competative enough. So sometime this week I would expect.
I do understand why Wind cannot offer this across Canada; which is too bad. If they could they could quickly increase their subscriber numbers. However what is really telling here is that the #4 provider was able to negotiate a deal with an American company like this. So either Telus et al are not trying hard enough; or they already get a rate like this and vastly over-inflate their prices.

Real simple. Wind asked T-Mobile for a discounted rate to be able to offer this, and T-Mobile agreed. They worked out a deal where Wind could make this offer for $15, and still make money on it.
I'm sure Wind has also asked the big 3 for something, and was left with the current $1 per MB "go suck it" offer.

Well Rogers has a deal in place with Wind for roaming in Canada that is supposed to expire soon here IIRC.
Roaming in Canada should be cheaper.

You should be able to add it month by month considering you pay month by month with Wind in the first place.

You could do it for $45 per month; however they probably have some condition about fair use; and returning to Canada. The plan does state "when travelling to the US"
