Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2020 - The Voting List
Just kicking off our 2020 Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking at a very odd time of year.
This is year eight, with the first year graduating Sean Monahan as the #1 prospect.
Below are the players that I think should be available for voting, but I'd rather find out if I've missed someone, or should omit someone before we get going.
In the System
Code:
Player Age
Zagidulin, Artyom 25
Philp, Luke 24
Kirkland, Justin 24
Yelesin, Alexander 24
Mackey, Connor 24
Poolman, Colton 24
Gawdin, Glenn 23
Lerby, Carl-Johan 23
Kinnvall, Johannes 23
Parsons, Tyler 23
Tuulola, Eetu 22
Phillips, Matthew 22
Valimaki, Jusso 22
Ruzicka, Adam 21
Emilio Pettersen, Mathias 20
Pospisil, Martin 20
Zavgorodny, Dmitri 20
Pelletier, Jakob 19
Wolf, Dustin 19
Notes: I've included Valimaki due to his lack of games played. With injuries he's only played 24 games and he's 22. That's still a prospect in my mind.
Reserve List
Code:
Player Age
Foo, Spencer 26
Rafikov, Rushan 25
Karnaukhov, Pavel 23
Mattson, Mitchell 22
Sveningsson, Filip 21
Koumontzis, Demetrios 20
Solovyov, Ilya 20
Chechelev, Daniil 19
Feuk, Lucas 19
Nikolayev, Ilya 19
Nodler, Josh 19
Zary, Connor 19
Boltmann, Jake 18
Francis, Ryan 18
Kerins, Rory 18
Kuznetsov, Yan 18
Poirier, Jérémie 18
Notes: All the new picks included. I struck Foo for age. Could make a case for nuking Rafikov and Karnaukhov as well.

I have zero expectations for any of these guys. I can see why you’d keep the bottom 2 on the list but the top 2 will never come over to NA IMO.

Say keep sveningsson, realistically if he were good enough he would come and play. As for the two russians there is no point, as they wont be bothered ever entering the Flames development system. Mattson is so bad it's hardly worth ranking him, but someone has to be last.

Until we hear something from at least another resource or someone more substantial I would leave him off. Even if he does eventually come over he would represent something more like a European free agent signing than a prospect.

Yeah I vote the Russians off the island until we hear something a little more credible about their interest in coming over.

They probably get voted in so low anyway based on a lot of us not knowing much about them or how they've played lately, so to me doesn't matter much if they make it into the voting or not

Rafikov for sure. Karnaukov seems unlikely but the fact that he has played several years of hockey in North America, in Calgary no less, I would leave him on

Russians should be in, Foo should be off. Rafikov’s contract is up this year, and could definitely fit on the third pair next year if he was at all interested in coming over. He’d certainly make more playing here than in Russia, so I see it as likely unless the D group stays as deep as it is.
Foo is a UFA after his KHL contract is up so even if he comes back to NA he won’t be Flames property.

I would keep the Russians in. They are officially prospects.

This was good, but " erankulation" would have finished it nicer.

I don't see why we don't have all the Russians on the list. Maybe they come over, maybe they don't - but they are still Flames' assets, no? I would keep them on the list if for no other reason than to get a grasp at what their value is just in case another team decides to make a swap with Calgary at some point.

I take it the recent drafts picks aren’t in - or if they sign a contract are they.

Filip Sveningsson needs to sign by Jun 1st 2021
Mitchell Mattson needs to sign by Aug 15th 2022
^ They should remain prospects until we lose their rights
Pavel Karnaukhov is 23 years old
Rushan Rafikov is 25 years old
I wouldn't count out the last two just yet, we do have six other Russians in the system which may entice others to come over, Artyom Zagidulin is 25, Alexander Yelesin is 24, Ilya Solovyov is 20, Ilya Nikolayev is 19, Daniil Chechelev is 19 and Yan Kuznetsov is 18.
