Bit of a mixed legacy with his antics, but one of the best of all time on the pitch.

Pretty young at only 60, but I think he lived pretty hard.

Oh...thats practically a matter of public record.

Nobody spends that much time in Naples without getting a little 'involved.'

Definitely a headline maker but in recent years mostly known for his Salt Bae appearances. While I’m not a soccer fan the guy definitely defined the sport during that era. For a little guy to be that athletic was something else. So young.

George Best died at 59. Quite similar paths the two had.

Oh ####, that's sad. His heydey was slightly before my time, so his abilities were already deteriorating when I became aware of him as a kid in the early 90s, but having watched plenty of footage of him since then, he was an absolute beast of a player. He just seemed to glide through defences without effort.

The English go on and on (and on...) about the Hand of God goal, but the other goal in that match was sublime.

The goal wasn't really the issue so much as the legacy of the Falklands.

I can't stand roundball, but if you don't like a guy like Georgie Best you don't like life.

people talk about the England game, but he was even better 4 days later in the semifinal against Belgium. Matteaus shadowed him in the final but he still got that final assist.

Argentina will be in national mourning. This was on a building down some random street in Buenos Aires when we were there in 2015.

The country will go into 3 days of national mourning, it is difficult to comprehend how important he was to the pride and psyche to a country in complete chaos and poverty as he hit his peak, Argentina has had interest rates in the high 30 and 40% for decades, it barely functions as an economy

When I was there in 1994 it was strange how the peso was locked to the US dollar. People could only drive old cars.

In the 1990s, the peso was pegged to the dollar by the government of then-President Carlos Menem in an attempt to stifle inflation. It was far from painless. The dollar peg battered exports, forcing the government to take on more debt to keep it afloat as an economic crisis worsened.

Where did all the money go, George?
