It will be interesting to see how Dickenson handles the GM role. It's a lot on his plate now.

It was written into DD's last contract this would happen if I understood Huf correctly during his presser.

Also sounds like he will continue as a talent evaluator on top of his duties as President.

Also said absolutely no truth to the rumors the team is for sale.

DD said during his briefing that coaching changes are coming and have been since seasons end. I wonder if there is someone with a Bowl team in the NCAA that is holding things up.

Big changes in stamp land regardless.

Huff did say he is going to stick around for a few more years at the end of the season, that seems like he is setting himself up for retirement and is probably staying on to mentor Dave as a GM.

He did the same thing as coach having Dave mentor until handing the reigns over.

Huff might be the best mind in Football, it sucks he is going to leave but he is getting older.

The team needs some freshness on both sides of the ball. Some new ideas and voices would be interesting.

2023 schedule released. They sure are onto the Sunday evening games in the summer. Not surprising in that those games last year had good ratings

A LABOUR OF “NO LOVE LOST”
The OK Tire Labour Day Weekend kicks off on Saturday, September 2 with BC in Montreal. All eyes turn to Mosaic Stadium on Sunday with the Blue Bombers in town. Holiday Monday features some of the league’s fiercest rivals: the Tiger-Cats welcome the Argos to Hamilton and the Elks host the Stampeders.

That's incorrect, we're at home on Labour Day as per usual.

However, it's a 5:00 pm start time which is later than usual (at least in recent memory).

I like that they moved all the playoff games to Saturday except for the Grey Cup.

Yeah I would hope that viewership should be better on a Saturday rather than competing with the NFL. May even help in Toronto where a lot of fans likely tune into Bills games on Sunday.

Elks last home game is on October 14 which definitely sets up the outdoor hockey game shortly after.

If it ends up being Oilers vs. Flames, it would be funny if the Flames had more wins at Commonwealth this decade than the Elks by the time the 2023 season is done.

My guess is DD this year or next basically grooms the next HC and then he moves up stairs next offseason or the one after. Given the coaches cap my guess is that happens sooner than later.

Hufnagel has been nothing short of phenomenal. His contacts to be able to scout across the continent takes a lot of hard work, skill and ability.

5:00 Labour Day game is absolutely trash. Might be the first Labour Day game I skip in almost 25 years. Good luck attracting young kids who have to go to school the next day. They won’t even be home until 9:00. I want to know whose bright idea this is, the CFL, Stamps, or TSN. My guess is TSN convinced the league to make it at 5:00 to attract the Eastern crowd in prime time. Also no Hamilton at home? What if Mitchell signs there, he won’t even get a chance to play in Calgary next year. Man sometimes I hate this league.

the league is its own worst enemy most times. Labour day has to be 2:00, 5:00 isnt great.

Randy is actually making things worse week by week. Thanksgiving weekend this year I don't think they had any games except on the Friday and one on the Monday.

Thanksgiving is a full schedule...doubleheader Friday, one Saturday, then one game Monday. I'd rather have the doubleheader on Monday, but that might just be me.

The time changes are for one reason only....ESPN wanted them.

The league has been trying to get a niche market in the US for decades. Last year the numbers were surprisingly good for the network and as such, they are going to try and expand on them.

That means prime time games on the East coast.

Rightly or wrongly, they are the ones driving the bus on these decisions.
