I think a few key differences in that 1980-1985 birth year. In 1980 you graduated university before digital cameras were everywhere and Facebook existed. In 1985 you started University at the same time as Facebook and digital cameras.

So somewhere in there is the break. I identify with much more Gex X traits than millennial traits being born in 1981

You're thinking of generation Z.

But the point is that the term is generally misused; and often referring to Gen Z.

If it's "generally accepted as 82-95 births", that's not how it's generally used.

The version of millennials monopoly is aimed at definitely includes people born 82-95. It may skew younger but that one isn’t a misuse of the term.
