Yeah. It's been a bit of an adjustment process, especially since most of my friends either went out west to UBC, stayed home, or went to McGill or U of T. But I've been able to find my own cool niche. Ottawa's a beautiful city, I get to write for the school paper, and the journalism community is super awesome and welcoming. And then, after my day is done, I get to watch the Flames!
Thanks for all of your guys' support, it means the world.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I've really enjoyed it. And yeah, Ottawa's been a blast, and I love having Quebec so close.

Well you certainly don't sound like an Albertan anymore.

- Mark Giordano is one goal from tying Tim Horton and becoming 69th all time in NHL scoring as a defencemen.
- Michael Frolik is one assists from a career 200. Even though he has 7 goals he is yet to get an assist this season.
- Sam Bennett is one point from tying Jiri Hrdina and Bobby Lalonde is points as a Flame. They each share the 88 position.
- James Neal is one point from a career 500.
- T.J. Brodie will tie Craig Conroy in games played as a Flame tonight. For one night they will share in 18th of all time spot.
- Sean Monahan is one point from a career 300.

So we need Mony and Johnny to assist on a Gio goal.
Frolik and Bennett to assist on a Neal goal.
and Brodie just has to show up 👍

The Strip Clubs, The LEGIT poutine, The museums and history you can wade through if you're Dougie Hamilton, there's a lot to like about La Belle Province.
Cheap Maple Syrup for your flapjacks! Plus as a younger man, I'm sure the girls theres are nice to talk to as well.
EDIT: Went to Ottawa in Decemeber-ish about 5 years ago. -15 and wet heavy snow. The Candian art museum was amazing, trudging through rideau canal was great. DT was a bit sleepy though after the work day ended. Brilliant Scotch bar there. cannot recall it's name but I had my first Highland Park 25 there. I was in heaven for a while.

Went to Ottawa for the first time this summer and absolutely loved it. Much nicer than I had thought, lots to do and see. Great city. Enjoy Scorp!
And Go Flames! Just keep playing like you have been lately and destroy that curse. Please don't leave Getzlaf and Rakell open in front of the net, ok, thanks.

after 6 years of living in Ottawa I finally admitted I like it here this year. Scorp, if you need a ride out to the CTC when the Flames come in March, drop me a PM.

Oh I'm not saying Quebec is bad or that people shouldn't like it (I certainly do), but traditionally speaking, Albertans seem to hate Quebec and the Quebecois more than anything else.
Is that changing these days? People were pretty anti-Quebec when I was living there.

I do enjoy having a completely juxtaposed culture right next door. It adds a certain je ne sais quoi.
I have no quarrel with the Québécois.

Celebrated Square Root Day

It's kind of funny that the OP figured the date was important in the title of the game day thread, but not the time.

Three feet of snow, too. I used to walk to work towards the river. The wind blew off of it. Man did that suck.
Skating the canal sounds fun until you find your feet are blocks of ice. No amount of Beaver Tails makes up for it.

It's the old "You know whats wrong with Quebec?" "It's full of French people".
Generally I find the distaste for the people exists merely because what comes out here are the hippies and I guess rejects? I mean I have some truly amazing frenchy friends from them coming out to Banff and Canmore to work the hills and live the mountain life.
Overall I don't think from the Albertans I've conversed with hate the land that is Quebec, they'd be stupid to hate that place, it's as beautiful as anywhere else in the world.

A reminder that this game is not a nationally televised game in Canada even though it is a Wednesday night. The game is on Centre Ice for viewers outside of the Flames region. It is very strange that Wednesday night Hockey on Sportsnet will not have a canadian team involved.

They'll feel pretty silly when they remember there's a hockey team in Calgary
