Best place to sell old records
So we are helping clear out my wife’s grandpa’s house and we’ve got a couple pretty large boxes of old records.
I’ve found one or two places in Calgary that buy old records but just curious if there are any recommendations here.
I know most of them are junk, but I know there are a few gems in there too, just hoping to get an idea of where/who can help find those gems/would want to buy them.

As with any collectables, ease of sale vs maximum profit are always at odds. You could sell them all at once as a group and get less money but it'll be quicker. You could piece them out and sell on your own but that's going to take time.
No record store is going to give you want they're worth. If you're lucky, you might get 30-40% value because they need to make a profit.

Thanks folks.
I know most of them are going to be completely worthless, and without a lot of work I'm not going to get what they're worth.
What I'm looking for is someone who can tell me what is garbage, and then give me whatever they can for the rest (don't care if it's only 30%, as I said, I'm looking for the lowest effort solution here).
Thanks for the info, I've got a lead or two.

If it's only a couple boxes, you can run them on discogs to check values and weed out the valuable ones from the crap. Sell crap to a store, sell nice ones privately.
Thanks folks.

What genres are there? To be honest, most estate records are thrift store donation value.
1. Pop/rock is valuable (60s-90s)
2. Jazz is valuable
3. Classical and orchestra and big band type stuff has no demand and can go to thrift. If you don't recognize the name or it's Burt Baccarat type stuff, I wouldn't even bother. This is what is most commonly found in estate collections for some odd reason.
