Also, unless I'm mistaken, there is no other bill tabled right now that proposed to reduce the restrictions on NFA (restricted) firearms or devices. As far as I know, there has been no legislative push to remove the requirements on FA/SBR/SBS firearms.
You really need to get better informed. 2nd amendment groups continue to push their agenda through both Congress and the disphit in chief. The Hughes Amendmemt (control of automatic weapons) is going to killed off either through legislation or executive order. The “sporting purpose” classification is under review and is likely to eliminated, making whole new classes of high capacity weapons treated no different than hunting rifle. The language of the National Fire Arms Act is being tergeted, specifically to change the language as it relates to short barrel rifles. That is without considering the actions of CCW reciprocity and gun-free zone elimination happening around the nation. I get tons of notifications from these groups how well their agenda is progressing in Washington, just because I am a gun owner.
Short of having annually recurring background checks or some other similar type system, I don't see how strengthening background checks prior to the acquisition of a gun is going to do anything.
After all, one can be perfectly sane (and meet all of the other requirements to own one) at the time that they buy a gun, only to later become mentally ill and then use the gun to mow down a hundred people.
And, yet, at the time of the purchase, there never would have been any red flags to block the sale.
But I rather doubt that the NRA or the Republicans would agree to mandatory ongoing background checks or anything of the sort.
I might get banned for this, but I feel it's worth saying. But Dana Loesch is a complete ####sicle. #### her. Right near the top of most disgusting, vile people.

There are some excerpts from that hall that are pretty great. This father who lost his daughter in the shooting crushes him.
There's a lot of visceral from the crowd.
I don't know his politics but I can see this guy beating Rubio, at least if the next Senatorial election wasn't until 2022 (if I'm not mistaken, which I may very well be).

It's something that we are now hearing about Rubio, Trump, and other Republicans saying they would possibly support banning gun purchases for anyone under 21.
That's a politically calculated move however, because they know the demographics/age of the NRA and that wouldn't really affect them so it's an easy win/cop out.
FAIRFAX, VA—According to sources, local man Wayne LaPierre, an individual with a long history of unstable and dangerous behavior, revealed a detailed plot this week to bring semiautomatic weapons into schools. The disturbed man has reportedly been carefully planning this plot for months and has published numerous ranting posts to his website in which he lays out, in explicit detail, his desire to bring numerous guns into school hallways and classrooms. While the crazed individual has, as of press time, not yet acted on his plan, sources confirmed he has every intention of doing so in the near future and will stop at nothing to see his plot fulfilled. Additional reports have suggested that the unstable man may have also been helped in his planning by a number of accomplices in the United States Congress.

hard not to get fatigued by these sad stories, but this one should be mandatory reading by the Senate and House imo...one of the radiologists on call that day for the Parkland shooting
Quote:
I was looking at a CT scan of one of the victims of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, who had been brought to the trauma center during my call shift. The organ looked like an overripe melon smashed by a sledgehammer, with extensive bleeding. How could a gunshot wound have caused this much damage?
there's a reason why AR-15s are the weapon of choice in these mass shootings...
Worshippers at the World Peace and Unification Sanctuary in Newfoundland are being asked to turn up with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle or equivalents such as an AK semi-automatic rifle, representing both the intent and the ability to defend one's family, community..."
Tim Elder, the church's director of world missions, said it believes the AR-15 symbolises the "rod of iron" mentioned in the Bible's apocalyptic book of Revelation. "Now more than ever, good people need to stand up and claim for themselves the tools that can be used to stop that kind of evil," he said.
Yeah, no, they're doomed.
