Wotherspoon is never going to make it in the NHL until he trims those sideburns.

Or as he likes to call them, Oliver and Rasmus.
I think Wotherspoon deserves an opportunity, but I don't see it coming here. I think it'd be in his best interest being traded.

There isn't an reason for the Flames to give him an opportunity as he will become a UFA this off-season. Which is also why he doesn't have any trade value.
He's going to more than likely finish the season in the AHL then look for an opportunity with another organization in the summer.

six of one, a dozen of the other.
the point was, he isn't going to get an opportunity here and his best bet is to move on.

Lets say that a left side Dman gets injured, is Wotherspoon still not the obvious fill-in? I suspect Bart would draw in for a game or 2, but I think it becomes obvious that Wotherspoon gives the team the best chance to win at a crucial time.

Wotherspoon would be better suited as our 7th D-man than Bartkowski. I think there is still value in signing him for next year

As one of the top defenders in the AHL, there is no way the Flames don't offer him a contract, likely a 1-way deal.

It's up to Wotherspoon if he thinks the Flames have earned the right to keep him. They've developed him into what he is, but he's bursting through the seams right now and this October will be the best chance of his career to land on an NHL squad full time.

If he doesn't think he's going to get there, one-way deal or not, he's going to look elsewhere.

Man Andersson is more than ready to play ~ I kinda would be happy to see Stone moved to make room for him and I think Stone could command something good with his contract and top 4 ability.

Official updates:

Parsons day to day upper body injury
McDonald day to day lower body injury

Stockton will use Ryan Faragher and CJ Motte as their goaltending duo for now.

Foo on a 4 game point streak. 3g+2a in that span.

Props also to Shinkaruk who seems to have found his game again. He seems to be consistently creating scoring chances over the last few weeks.

Mangipane assigned to Stockton.

Rittich and Gillies were assigned then recalled, preserving their AHL eligibility .

I guess that means Tanner Glass will be in Calgary for the rest of the season.

Edit: Actually, this is not true at all. He can go back down to Stockton...he just won't be eligible to play in the playoffs.

Incorrect. There are only three situations that allow for a player to be sent to the AHL after the NHL trade deadline.
  • Players who were recalled from the AHL after the trade deadline. This is why the Flames did the paper transactions with Rittich and Gillies.

  • Players who were on a recall from the AHL and were injured at the time of the trade deadline. These players can be sent down (with the player's consent) once they are medically cleared to play if they have spent less than 25% of the season in the NHL prior to their injury. Hrivik falls into this category.

  • Players who are recovering from a long term injury may be sent down on a Conditioning Loan to not exceed 6 days or 3 games. To be eligible for this, a player must have been injured a minimum of 24 days and missed 10 games.

Glass doesn't fit into any of these categories.
