Is there any chance Weegar gets dealt by the 13th if a deal isn't be reached by then? The team has more good defensemen in camp than it can keep on the roster, and it's questionable whether or not the team has a true top line winger to play alongside Huby & Lindy...
Another sign & trade coming perhaps?

The team has a lot of depth.
But Stone, Meloche, Mackey, Valimaki are bottom pairing or press box players at best.
I do agree you have to give up something to get something but I'd feel better if there was a hotshot young player in that group who you were confident would grow into a top 4 role. I don't really see that.

Even if Weegar is a one year rental, he's worth more than getting maybe 5-10 more goals from a RW. Toffoli scored 20 last year in a reduced role, 28 the year before, 24 the year before that, so he can do the job. There's only one puck to go around, and there's no 40 goal scorers on the market.

8 x 6.5 sounds perfect to me, I can see it coming in at 8 x 6.75 though which is perfectly fine as well, I feel like that gap is the hold up.

The team's top 5 is Tanev, Hanifin, Andersson, Weegar, Kylington. Even without one of those guys there is still a solid top 4 intact. Kylington being out to start the season isn't much of an issue since playoff hockey is what truly matters and he will be back well before then.
Hopefully Weegar and the Flames reach a deal at terms that make sense for both player and team. If they can't, all options need to be looked at. It would be a shame if Stone is let go now for nothing, and then Weegar walks for nothing next summer.

I’m not sold on OK. He stepped back a lot after the hot start. And we saw what an injury to Tanev did.
There is a solid top four which shouldn’t be touched IMO.
